I've been wanting a small/mid-size pickup for a while now and my slow method of figuring out what new vehicle will be the best long term choice for me was finally complete: The Tacoma! A few years ago I really like the Chevy Colorado, but my decision to get a Tacoma at this point in my life was made because I want this to be the last pickup I buy, and keep until I can no-longer drive. I think the Toyota was obvious at that point.

I've owned a few pickups in the past (many full size, previous pre-Tacoma Toyota pickup, and multiple SUVs), I wanted to think it all through and my toughest decision was long bed or short bed. I pulled the trigger on the long bed, although I would've been happy with either. Here are the details:
2021 Tacoma TRD Offroad 4X4, double cab, long bed in Barcelona red (I've always had a weakness for metallic red vehicles but "Cement" was runner up; it depended on dealer availability for either of those).

I've owned it for almost a week now, and almost through the first tank of gas and so far love it! Here's to many more years of owning a Tacoma!!!!!

Dont you dare let anyone tell you that “the Tacoma was a mistake”. This is the #1 choice for many reasons .

    1) it won’t get stuck on the trail, like a wide ass f150 raptor, trying to squeeze through obstacles. This includes squeezing through dumbos stuck on snowed out roads.

    2) it’s not going to ride like a 1800s stagecoach off road , like a solid axle heep (not a spelling mistake)

    3) you can toss all kinds of dirty items in the bed , muddy dogs , dead deer or a busted water heater , unlike the over landers with their BS 4runners and gx460s .

    4) it’s a damn Toyota truck. It’s reputation will do all the talking for you. It’s like seeing someone at the gym with huge traps like “yup that dudes going to lift some serious weight”

I shopped for about 4 years, and really was never going to settle for anything else, but wanted to see what was out there. For me, it came down to access cab or dual cab. Since this is hopefully "the last car I will ever buy", I decided on the dual cab. I always knew I was going for long bed. I don't plan on doing serious off roading, but do plan on doing lotss of fire roads and logging roads getting to backcountry camping and biking places. I got an SR5, and it is the perfect level for me...a good blank slate to start building a camping/Mountain biking "headquarters".

just got mine on Thursday and same thing, it does not feel real yet. This is the first "new" car I have ever had that was exactly what I wanted...no compromises...

    you gotta post some pics!!!
