Yeah, I was thinking that also. I do want heavy, might go with the Al core, though, might see if I can fake up some weight to see how it feels. Had a heavy (ish) knob on my 6speed Z, liked the feel on that, I think it was just over a pound, though.

I do love Ti as a metal, also, but I think I'll prefer the weight of steel.

Get a bean bag of various weights...drape it over the stock knob. It will give you the feels of varying weights

Or, try shifting without the knob. That is what lead me to a lightweight one.

These are a work of art and I definitely want in!
The v2 aluminum hybrid or ti (if I can swing it) sound like the perfect weight.
And that Japanese shift pattern looks awesome.

It looks like I picked the right time to get a new Tacoma and stumble across this thread. After many, many hours of reading every post in this thread - plus a certain Cerakote disaster thread - I think I'm finally up to speed!

February 15th is marked on my calendar! @7r41lbr34k3r Are you opening up for new orders at a particular time or do you want us to start flooding your inbox at 12:01AM?

Hopefully I can get one of these so I can retire my custom-made WC Lathe Werks knob from my old STi. It works well in the Tacoma, but it's a little small (Ø2.00") and the rubber-grommet-in-the-chrome-boot-retainer looks pretty crappy to me.

Soo, yes ... I've moved the date to Black Friday at my local Walmart entrance (5 minutes prior to opening). This is where we do orders![/sarcasm]

HA, no ... we should keep this as simple as possible. The 12:01 am thing seems super annoying, but I guess it makes sense. It is pretty easy to set up an email to automatically send at midnight EST. The deposit or payment can come within 24 hours of that to keep the order locked in. Interest levels seem pretty high, and a day or two will likely be the order window ... possibly just a few hours.

I'll be traveling up to Mass. during the day on 2/15, so fair warning I may go dark for a while ... but will catch up once I get settled at the site I am traveling to.

Queuing up for the 15th as well! Just installed the core/hurst shifter, but hoping to install your shift knob (w/ thread adapter) and use oem collar.

Well seems like I stumbled on this thread at the right time.

After 85k+ I've managed to wear away all the stitching on the right side of my factory shift knob and I'm starting to catch the material and pull it back.

A couple quick thoughts to get my plan in place before the 15th. For everyone that has the aluminum knob with the composite ring, how does it feel in the cold and aluminum heat transfer being what it is, does it warm up without freezing the hand too much?

I like the idea of a heavier knob ~350-400g but want to avoid the SS for both cost and but mostly temperature reasons. I have looked through but haven't seen any options for a hybrid that would get that weight range with just a standard aluminum with ring knob? That being said having not tried it, is there a noticeable different from the stock weight knob to the ~50% heavier aluminum only one?

    1. The copolymer ring area gives a significant difference of temperature. Even with hot aluminum sinking heat into it, copolymer/Delrin will not burn you. It will also only get about as cold as your steering wheel. The feature does look pretty cool, but it was developed purely for protection from the heated/cooled metallic surfaces.

    2. You can throw a heavy hybrid core (brass or stainless) into Aluminum to bring the total weight up to about 400g.

    3. I try to stay away from comparisons as knob weights are incredibly subjective. Perceptions from one person to the next can be wildly different.

Could I get a price confirmation to ensure I'm understanding the OP correctly?

V2 - Copolymer hybrid (C360 Brass core) [350g] w/ no engraving on top but TRD engraving on the color w/ Grip Grooves:
    $70 + $25 + $10 + $20 = $125 + $5 PayPal fees and $15 shipping = $145 total.

    Is my math right?

Also, for those of us who do not have PayPal/Venmo accounts, are you able to send an invoice so we can pay using a regular credit card?

Yes that looks correct to me, although shipping will likely be about $5 cheaper for that particular knob.

I will have to look into the additional payment option, but my Quickbooks account is supposed to have invoicing capability with online payments. I just need to set it up and figure out what the fees will be.
