So, 2 weeks ago I purchased a new 2021 Tacoma TRD. The first time on the highway I noticed a rear end vibration at 2 different speeds. I have a slight vibration at 55 and a major vibration at 70-80mph. The dealer re-balanced the tires and it basically did nothing. So I googled it at noticed this is a major problem with the vehicle. How can just a famous and legendary vehicle have such a wide spread flaw? I’m pissed off since I do a lot of highway driving and thisvibration literally numbs my legs.

Strange, i've got a 2020 with no vibrations of any sort at any speed. I assume your stock, no lift. Seems all the complaints are after a lift.

Another vote for odd. My 2021 OR is smooth all the way to 70mph. However I did just come from a second gen TRD OR that had the original worn out shocks that shook and rattled at any speed so...

I'm gonna vote for driveshaft out of phase or driveline out of alignment as my darkhorse pick.

Widespread? Driveline vibration actually pretty uncommon. The early 2016s needed an axle shim but as far as I know they were phased out and Toyota resolved the issue.

    This is actually pretty anomalous.

Show the dealer and let them resolve it.

I have posted this before on other threads. My buddy wanted a new 19 Limited, because I bought one and he liked mine. We both had second gens. He test drove a few that vibrated, before he found one he thought didnt vibrate. A few thousand miles later, it started to vibrate. Dealer put some thingamajig in the steering column, still vibrated. Then they replaced his axles and drums. Still vibrated. Dealer said sorry, thats all we can do. He ended up selling it. He was bummed, he had a second gen for 10 years and really wanted this truck. So some do vibrate. He was pretty sure it wasnt tires, you could feel it in the rear, and it didnt change with tire rotations, it felt the exact same. Dealer said it wasnt the tires either.

Darn that had me going until I read the last sentence. But the Thailand I knew fifty years ago was much different. Sad how things have changed in our new snowflaky world.

I've been battling a similar vibration for the last year. I thought it started when I put new wheels and tires on, but 3 sets of tires, 3 sets of wheels, and 5 different shops with who knows how many balances later and I still have a constant vibration in the seat above 60mph. I hope you can find a solution to your issue. If you do please post back and share!

A professional tire balance machine can perfectly balance a square peg. That does not mean you won’t feel the “squares” on your butt.
That said, stealerships don’t normally specialize in tire technology or know-how. They are also not direct dealers of the tire manufacturer, just affiliates. They are therefore less likely to give you any sort of adjustment or replacement on a tire.

In other words, they’ll just try and blow you off.
My advice, is to go see a reputable direct tire dealer for the specific tire on your truck and have them inspect it.

They’ll lift the truck and spin the tire while checking for any out of round irregularity, and may check the balance also.
What you can do yourself for now is check to see if any or both rear tires have excessive amounts of weights on the wheel/rims. This excess makes a tire the prime suspect in any out of balance condition.

You could still have an out of balance drive shaft that the stealership missed, if the tire(s) are good.
And over-tightening of the wheel lugs at the dealer/port or factory can cause vibration issues on new vehicles as well. It's a bug that plagues all vehicle brands now and then.

The truck itself is solid, one the best made.

    Good luck
