    Cliff Cross's guide was very popular and his bird's-eye-view maps were a big reason!

    I have scanned every one of his 50-year-old maps for a bit of nostalgia and historic interest in a place that had 800 miles of no paved roads before the end of 1973... Maps are roughly from north to south and west to east:

    Indeed... a look back in time 50 years! Sadly, I am old enough to remember Baja when it was that way, traveling to Cabo San Lucas by Jeep, as a kid in the 1960s. I turned 16 and drove myself around northern Baja in 1974 (and again in '75), for a week on Spring Break, in a dune buggy!
