Dumpster. The lathe man saves metal chips and sometimes aluminum if he remembers to clean the lathe out beforehand.

I would suggest smelting that scrap into ingots or blanks. Brass isn't very cheap from what I gathered, and weighted blanks might sell for a decent amount to get back a bit of overhead.

comes down to the time .the cost to do the scrapping

if we stripped the finished copper out of machines we would make a killing we don`t it just goes in the dumpster

No one wants to do the work on their own time.

The problem here is there’s so many different kinds of chips mixed with it. When I run plastic I see plastic chips for a month after blowing the machine off and around toolbox, etc. I only ran brass on the mill today and you could see metal, stainless, and aluminum mixed with it.

We have a janitor at work that strips all the copper wiring at work to donate to the homeless shelter in anchorage. We all chipped in and bought him a electric wire stripping machine. He ships it out once a year on shipping containers. It’s a big check for them.

Oh no, I absolutely get it, it's not an easy job I assume. I've been on a kick watching homemade metallurgy videos on the uTuber about people smelting down their old aluminum cans. I even came across a video of people farming the brake dust and old precious metals from the sides of the highways. These dudes would go out with push brooms and sweep up a bunch of the crud down the medians, they'd gather bucket loads. Each of the various metals would melt at different temperatures and they'd skim off the crud to get a pure platinum ingot at the end from old catalytic converter puke. I'm not saying that this has to be a daily thing but if you collected the shavings in say a 55gal drum and whenever the free time bug bit ya, cook it down. The plastic and crud could be skimmed off and the metals separated but that's just a pipe dream. There might even be some hobbyist in the local area that would love to pay you for the shavings. I dunno how big the market is for that stuff.

I have a set of axle wedges for a Farmall Cub for when you split it to keep the front from tipping over that a dear friend made me from aluminum cans. I’ll have to get a picture of them tomorrow, they are in my toolbox at the shop.
