They aren't the best but they are a new company and they are improving all the time. Service hasn't been an issue my neighbor told me. For him

The company is 17 years old and is now valued more than most other auto makers combined. In all this excitement people still think they're like they're 17 year old that still trying to figure out his drug dealing business and what should I cut the coke with. IMO people are so lost in the hype they'll take a car with 90's Kia build quality that's the price of a Benz, but with the after the sales experience of a buy here pay here car lot.

That's right, it's only 17 years old. Was the Tesla you owned or drove that bad?

The internal combustion engine has co-existed together with the electric motor for quite some time. In fact the electric motor is older, starting at around 1821 (Michael Faraday) vs 1872 (American George Brayton) for the internal combustion engine. So far the petrol engine still offers some substantial advantages that we, or at least a good many of us would not want to or be able give up.

Moreover, physics just don’t change so it’s unlikely those advantages will simply disappear in the next 20yrs or if ever. So until then we may either work around the EV limitations, or we learn to “tolerate” them if we want to use it.

Don’t be fooled or overly concerned by today’s over marketing shenanigans or ploys to instill fear to depart you from your money.

Edit: Oh and btw, the electric battery was invented in 1800 by Italian physicist Alessandro Volta

Is giving good customer service and producing a quality product something that was just figured out?

I drove a Model 3 in Sacramento and laughed my ass off and how poor the fit and finish was. It made the Mazda I had as a rental look like a BMW

Okay, that's fine. For a company producing cars for only short time they're doing pretty good though. Leader in the EV market and no doubt they need to improve.

It is not electric motors that keep EV vehicles from getting more popular. An electric motor is better than an ICE in every metric. Limitation is the battery tech. There are many semi-commercial solutions that companies are coming up with, some of those are bound to be fully commercial in the next ~5 years or so.

A big issue with commercializing rapidly advancing technologies is that a factory you invested billions of $$$ and 2-3 years of construction time can become obsolete by the time it is ready to start producing. So many manufacturers are hesitant to pull the trigger and commit on a specific battery tech. Same is also true for things like solar panels, the best commercial solar panels we had 5 years ago perform worse than a lower than average solar panel of today. So why spent billions on a solar farm now that will take 2-3 years to built, when you can spent 1/4 the amount in 2-3 years for the same results. Once these technologies mature, they will be adopted so fast that driving a gas powered car will become a luxury, same way how candles become a luxury after light bulbs.

I have little or no doubt battery tech will improve. But at what monetary cost or environment/safety and mineral availability concerns, vs promises of marginal overall benefits still leaves much to be desired.

The ICE on the other hand, may still have some improvements left up its sleeve. Lest we forget it is 70+yrs younger than the battery.

I love solar energy too, and if it was viable, I’d have Tesla power cells and roof panels in my home. I’ve done the math on it.
But it’s just not cost effective (yet), and it requires maintenance and replacement too. And It’s also still dependent on sunny days, clean panels and conventional energy for most habitable areas.

It’s a great alternative power, and no doubt and we need both.

I mean after all, does an ICE Not need battery power to start?
Of course it does, at least for the everyday user, but beware of the hype, gimmicks and promises to separate us from our money.

A PE of over 1600 and currently having their lunch eaten by the VW group in Europe what's not to love? I have no doubt the stock has made people rich, but will they know when to walk silently to the exits?

A diesel hybrid would be the ultimate.
    • Making diesel or running waste veggie oil that has been converted to bio diesel is the best way to lower the carbon footprint.
    • Battery technology is like computer technology. In other words it’s exponentially better over time.
    • Fossil fuel is coming to an end, but internal combustion engines might not if we can switch to bio based diesel and make it from waste products.
