Hello, I’m brand new to this forum, thank you for the warm welcome.

I ordered a Tacoma 2021 Trd off road 2x4 in magnetic grey which was very hard to find on the lot that’s why I had to order it. It will arrive in a few weeks. So like everyone else Im not a fan of the stock wheels and tires. So, that will be my first upgrade.

Since it’s a 2x4 it will be my daily driver, but I want a more aggressive stance without any mods. I read Bob’s post about the larger tire size with stock suspension.

I was looking into going to a 17 inch wheel from stock, the Pro Comp 43 Sledge with a -6 offset , along with 265 70 17 Toyo OC 3’s. Using this set up, will I encounter any rubbing, or need to trim or mod anything? I’ve heard yes and no on the subject? Depending on offset. That is why I was going to a modest offset of -6, which is far more than stock which I’ve heard it’s like + 25 offset.

I will be doing some modest off roading but I won’t be challenging MT Everest or anything. Maybe after the first set of tires at that point I’d be looking to make mods like a 2 or 3 inch lift and upgrade to 275 70 17 tire profile, but for now I just want the stance to be a bit more aggressive than stock. Thank you. - Tony

subscribing b/c I am also in the market for about the same situation...

so far, I think I am going to keep the 16" wheel size, because it can allow for a taller "puffier" tire if need be in the future....

    just got a 2021 SR5

my OEM tires are 245/70R16's - Toyo A13 (?) or A 31's....probably great tires, but sort of "utilitarian" looking. (I had Toyo Open Country's on my RAV 4 and loved 'em)

I think I am going to go for a wider tire to get that look. My truck has a decent height already...there is almost 9" between the top of the tire and the wheel well both front and back

all the tires I am checking out are in the 265 width range. Will probably stay with the 70 aspect, though I don't think going to 75 would be bad...

    have been looking at:
    Dick Cepek Trail Contry EXP
    Cooper AT3 4S'
    Hankook Dynapro AT2
    BFGoodrich All Terrain TA K02's

gonna go on American Racing Outlaw II wheels

Glad we are on the same page. I like the more tougher look of the toyo tire. And the rim I really like since my truck is magnetic grey and I think these will blend really well. Since I’m not a major off roader I like the 17 inch look. We would gain an inch either way with 16s or 17s. I just don’t want to mod anything in any way. Hopefully my set up works. 4808FEA9-AFE3-4B5A-AB5D-738DE10C8847.jpg

yeah...those Toyos look sweet!!! As well as the rims. I was opting for something along the lines of those kind of rims, but there is something about the AR Outlaws that say "old school 4x4" to me...reminds me of the days when i went mudding with my uncle back in the 70's...all the Jeeps and trucks had rims like that...

Yea those AR rims are sweet and old school. I remember those from back in the day. It will look great with your rig being black in color. Will be a nice contrast. That’s why I’m going with the matted black and milled silver finish on my Pro Comps, with magnetic grey will look cool. Def be posting some pics on here when the time comes.
