I recently bought a TRD Pro grill for my 2013 Toyota Tacoma. The kit came with the grill, LED lights, the wiring harness, and a fuse tap. I am pretty new to wiring so I am not sure what fuse do I have to replace with the fuse tap? I have seen some people use the interior fuses and others use the exterior fuse box. What are the differences? Any help is appreciated it thanks.

The interior fuses are for things inside the cab (don’t want to use those for this purpose)

the engine bay fuses are for all the “exterior” things, such as lights.

I know in the 3rd gen, there is a 10A fuse labeled “DRL” (daytime running lights)
I would probably grab that one if you have it

Yeah I looked for that one but the 2nd gen Tacoma doesn't have a fuse that is label like that. Here is a pic of the fuse box for my truck:

Do you have one labeled “FR FOG”
That will be the fuse for the fog lights. The negative thing is that one turns off with the high beams. Not the end of the world, but something to keep in mind.

Yeah I have one labeled FOG FR it's a 15A fuse. So if I connect the fuse tap on the Fog fuse will the grill lights turn on only if the headlights and fog lights are on ?

Whenever the fog lights are on.

you can turn the fogs on without the headlights (at least on 3rd gen you can)

With the 2nd gen it's different the headlights have to be turn on in order for the fog light to work.

Do you have a multi-meter? You’ll need it to check a few other fuses that may be good options

There's posts in TW showing a simple way to make your fog lights be anytime lights, not just when headlights are on. I've been thinking of doing it myself.

I would probably tap in on the parking light circuit. That way the grill lights come on even if no headlights are on.

Post up some pics once done

With the key OUT of the ignition, check these fuses

    S/HTR NO.2
    Towing
    Towing tail
    And both SPARES

-If any of these DO NOT have voltage with the key out, that’s good.
-Then pop the key in and flip it to accy and then IGN (don’t have to crank it though)
-Check the fuses that didn’t have voltage again.
-if one of the does show 12v now, you can use that one.

there are a few more that might work, but these would be the ones I check first
