They want 1150 for install on suspension and 150 for a winch bumper install. o_O That made me laugh.

*edit: misread that. Still 1150 for suspension install is about 600ish more than typical of shops around me.

Let the free market win by walking away and finding another way. Some friends of mine just got an interior painting bid for a small townhome. $11,000! I almost offered to paint it.

ESP Lockable Rear Seat Storage, MobTown Lockable Bed Hatches, lots of cool Mobtown products (Rear Bumper, complete set of 1/4" steel skid plates, sliders), Old Man Suspension and a bunch of other practical off-road tools to bulletproof my truck...
I have a guy right around the corner from me (Reel's Automotive - Front Royal, VA)...It is a REAL business, licensed and insured (It is a 4000 sq. ft. building that has a lift and the full works)...This guy does all the City's and County vehicles there...I have been using him for my Backhoe for years and yes, he labor charge is $25 per hour...Great mechanic and he has me purchase all my own parts, unless it's something he can get at the local parts house (Which he pays wholesale for)...This guy is always busy and generally has a 1 to 2 week waiting list going...I generally tip him too, because he does great work and is easy to deal with...not trying to up sell you something or cheat you.

Everything is just nuts and bolts like Minny Taco says. Can you unscrew something and then screw it back? OP get some help from the people offering, buy the food and beer, and have fun. Watch some videos about everything you're doing and take your time. You can spend part of that labor cost on a great set of tools and be set. Milwaukee M18 Fuel Impact, M12 fuel 3/8 Impact, and M12 Fuel 3/8 Ratchet will help exponentially. Everything else is just turning wrenches. I think the channel is JerryRigsEverything where he does a lift and a lopro bumper. Watch it a couple times and dive in. Good luck!

If you are going 315's I would save some $ for regearing 4.88 or 5.29 to get back some torque back. Also look into OVTUne to completely fix the engine/trans shift problems. Also you need to account for powder coating the sliders and/or bumper. Honestly unless the shop knows what he is doing making sure 35's won rub is going to take a lot of trimming, hammer and testing.

Honestly installing the parts your self gives you more appreciation and understanding the capabilities of the vehicle to fix and use the truck offroad.

The last thing you want to do is pour a bunch of money into a vehicle and not like how it drives and have regrets.

I'm sure we can find 'a guy' with a 2 week wait, you bring parts, tips allowed in CA also. :facepalm:Bottom line is hourly rate in VA is average $80 + per hour at retail chains.

I bought my truck and did full King suspension, new leafs, UCAs, and sliders all for less than 12k. Yea it’s 23 years old, but wow.

Unless you're just mall crawling, why not do it yourself so that you learn how to fix something when it breaks. Why not save a bunch of headaches with more reasonably sized tires? All the hills and traffic around SF.....you'll be lucky to ever see 15MPG again!

Yup. The bumper price is high even if it includes the winch

Yah, and they are always trying to up-sell you something and/or don't do the work they said they did...I stopped using Retail outlets 30 years ago when I lived in California, because they cheat you and try and blame any problems on you...Work with local people, know your mechanic and they will treat you right...

Not so fast..... Mobtown DCSB w/kick out, powder coat, and top-plate is $1k before shipping. Granted, it’s mobtown so high end stuff.
