All I said is GME won’t hit 100 billion in market value, at least not in any time soon (not in a year), and the market won’t blow up over this. Time will prove me right or wrong, a lot of typing won’t.

When this happened to Volkswagon in 2008, they became for a blink in time, the most valuable company in the world. Nobody is saying GME is gonna go to $2k a share and sit there forever. But as the squeeze is squoze on the shorts, the theoretical upper limit of capitalization is unlimited.

There were (as yet unsubstantiated, because photoshop exists) reports of market orders executing in the 2600 range near open today. That is ~~not far away from the 100 billion mark *at all*~~ (I just did the math - that's 186 billion cap - well over), which is absolutely stupidly absurd and where brokers allegedly first saw the signs of this massive systemic risk.

Is Gamestop 100 billion valuable? Jesus Fuck no. It's not 10 billion valuable on fundamentals.

But what the hell do fundamentals have to do with this mess?

If it hits $43k a share, GME will the most valuable company in the world. If literally everybody decides not to sell, that's mathematically possible.

Yes, and the share price remained within ~$100 or so of the ATH for *almost a week* when that happened.

People seem to forget that a single short position contract has, on paper, theoretically unlimited risk.

I think it had 28 billion cap as it approached 400/share. So I’m not going to suggest there isn’t a chance it could reach 100 billion

    I hope it does :kona:

I've been so wrapped up in this GME stuff, I don't think I have posted here at TW all this week lol. I'm still in it, I did paperhand to cover my position and make a few bucks (sorry), but now I'm just holding my remaining shares to help out others.

I'm just in it for the chaos at this point.

Nobody paper handed half their shares earlier than me, probably, but I bought those shares back at a higher cost. So I’ve already been punished

Same, basically. If it gets to a point where I can recoup my initial investment with a 25% or less liquidation I'll do that and just let the rest ride to see what the hell happens.

If it never gets to that point, it's going down with the ship. But hey, that's why you only use a tiny percentage of your portfolio for high risk/high reward plays.

Ditto. If it goes to zero tomorrow I'm gonna be pissed, but it was never more than I could afford to lose. That's the key. Even on the highly lucrative plays, never over leverage yourself.

Shit is getting real. Since I'm not one to usually mess with the stock market, besides my 401k that I let a professional manage, the more important part of this whole thing is the fallout that comes in months to come. I wonder if regulators will really come down on these institutions that have been doing this for so long. I wonder if anyone will actually go to jail for once?
