Anyone swapped a 96 powertrain to a 99 powertrain?

FJ Wheels, 265/70/17 tires, 1999 Engine, Transmission, Transaxle

I had a spark plug stick in my 96 3.4l and it was going to cost $1500 to re do the head. The motor, transmission, and transaxle had 255,000 miles on it. I found a 99 3.4l with trans, and transaxle for $500 with 114,000 miles on it. After installing it found out the 99 does not use a speedo cable. And the 96 speedo gear does not work on the 99 transmission. Any one have any ideas or know of any modification in order to get the speedo to work?
