Ha I had to go to a new dentist because my old one left and I really liked her. The new one said I needed a crown, which the old one said I would most likely need one the following visit. So I thought sounds right. But then I asked which tooth since I brought up my old dentist recommendation and he was like oh its a different one!

I think I need to try to find where my old dentist left to. I went to her 5 times and always seemed very truthful.

I remember the last time I went to the dentist decades ago, I told them that was my first visit since years and years... they raised their eyebrows and popped there mouths open. Then did their check and told me I had something like 18 cavities.

I walked out and never went back to a dentist again, oddly I still have all my teeth and no issues!

That is actually a great Idea I do have the app but have not tried entering my own stuff in to it so far. My salesperson told me I should have it for roadside assistance and to schedule toyotacare service visits. I usually used carfax to keep all of it online with vehicles in the past. The downside to carfax is when you sell a vehicle and remove it from your account all your personal DIY entries are deleted and don't stay in for the new owner if they sign up.

If toyota and the dealers can see what I enter in the Toyota app that's better since carfax keeps ower's entries private to the owners account.

I have seen dealer techs and service writers manage and negotiate the hours on jobs frequently. Often times the tech wants the work but knows the book time is excessive and the customer will decline it, so he adjusts his time to something more reasonable to get the work or take the short cut into account. Sometimes the writers will ask the tech to adjust the labor time to get the job sold as well. It’s not set in stone, but the book time is always the first number quoted.

Well the 5k service was super easy. Was there almost an hour. There were no service up sells or anything. Even got a free trip through the car wash down the street from the dealership.

Agreed, I have praised and bashed dealers dependent upon their treatment of me and I always walked in with a positive attitude at first.

my fuel pump is already about to kill itself. Yesterday my engine kept bogging out right after turning it on. I disconnected and reconnected the battery and everything is fine now. No check engine lights or anything. Toyota sent me a letter about this a couple months ago as well lol.

Has anyone ever had trouble taking their vehicle for service at a dealer other than where they bought it? My closest dealer gave me an unreasonable offer when I was buying, so I went somewhere else. But I would rather take it to the closer dealer for service because of course its more convenient.

    Just wondering.

Btw, as a dealer at a certain point were given a list of recalled vehicles in our area and are required to call and try to schedule them in. Its a federal mandate. It's part of the OEM's attempt to make every conceivable try to get your vehicle repaired so that when you don't and it explodes they can wash their hands of it with "we tried".

Not with a car or truck, but I have heard of some smaller Motorcycle Dealers doing this, although some of their business models are probably different then that of a car dealership.

I bought my Taco five minutes from my house so when I get a recall, I’ll take it back to that dealership. I’d probably do that even if I’d bought the truck somewhere else. I guess if they ask why you don’t take it back to where you bought it, tell them you moved. Personally I doubt that they care.

I went to my local Toyota dealership here in town when I was shopping for a truck. I have heard a few not so good things about them but tried and gave up on them.
I bought my truck at a dealership in Maryland and I live in Pennsylvania. Just last weekend I took it in the the Dealership in the next town over. I made to appointment on the Toyota app. When I got there they took care of the truck and all like I was always their customer.

Go anywhere you want or need to. A coworker has a Tundra and took theirs to a dealer in Nebraska while their were there taking there kid to college

Shouldnt matter unless you bought a service package that is only recognized at THAT dealership. For general toyota care or warranty work it should be able to go to any north american toyota dealership without issue.

When I took mine in back before Thanksgiving for the recall, I also had the oil change and "normal" service. They did get me a rental car for the day and returned the truck earlier than expected that afternoon.

The service tech did mention that I should get an alignment. I declined since the tires were wearing flat/even and I was doing a lift after Christmas. Other than an unnecessary alignment, not too bad.

I had similar issue years ago. I bought a Bullitt edition Mustang in 2001 from an out of state dealer because there were none at the dealerships close to me. When I had a warranty issue, I called the closest dealer and first question was "Did you buy it here?". When I said "No", he politely said he would prefer not to work on it. In fairness, this was a time when it was reported that Ford was cutting-back on dealer reimbursement for warranty repairs so I wasn't really surprised. Technically, the dealership is not supposed to refuse warranty work but at least they were up-front and I would prefer to have a dealership that was glad to do the work, which the one just a few miles further away was happy to do.

I've always wondered if the Dealership lowered the hourly service charge if they could make it up with more volume of work.
I tend to trust the dealer and their "Trained" tech's a lot more that a greasy guy in a dirt floor shop.(exaggeration but trying to make a point)
If the word was on the street that the dealer was only 10% over other independent shops, there would not be a decision, dealer wins every time.
Comments from a Dealership? or someone with Dealer connections?
(Stepping down from the soapbox cautiously waiting for comments).

GM pulled this one on me for a warranty service at the dealer I not only bought from but did all the other work on it including oil changes..yeah GM didn't care.
