Meso Stage 1 Tail Light Kit Hyper Flash Issue

I received and installed my Meso Stage 1 Tail Light kit that I got from Tacoma Beast yesterday. Easy install with the wiring harness and checked everything out yesterday and working fine...with the engine off. I get in the truck this morning to leave for work and the right side turn signals are in hyper flash mode while the truck is running. While parked and just the accessory on they work just fine. Tacoma Beast wants to charge me another $20 for resistors or let me return them with a 15% re-stocking fee and I don't think that's fair because I did nothing on my end. Just got them yesterday so isn't there supposed to be a return window?

This is a known and noted potential issue when replacing anything with LED’s.

MESO used to charge $20 more for the whole kit and it included the resistors. The downside of this is that several people didn’t actually need the resistors but had to pay $20 more for unused parts. He then made the change to charge $20 less for the kit and not include resistors, but offer them separately for the people who’s trucks didn’t want to play nicely.

it stinks that some trucks need them and some don’t, but that’s more of an issue to take up with Toyota I suppose

I’m personally not a fan of TacomaBeast for little reasons like this. The resistors are not even mentioned as a possibility on their web page, but they ARE mentioned on MESO’s site. Shame on them for not having anything saying “some trucks need resistors and that will cost you $20 more if you need them”

 

Thanks for the reply and I did reach out to Tacomabeast. They are going to send out the resistors free of charge because like you mentioned there is nothing in their item description stating some vehicles may need them. I am happy with them stepping up like that but have read some stories about resistors getting hot and melting plastic so I’m concerned with that potential. I should’ve just spent the extra money to buy completely new tail lights. Lesson learned I suppose.
