Exhaust tip paint peeling. Truck running too hot?!

    Idk it’s a 2021 so some kind of new aerodynamic plastic maybe to protect from rock chips idk

    I got the chrome version of this tip. No issues. The black chrome looked cool but I was afraid about the finish holding up.

    I work on motorcycles so a bit different, but at a shop that does performance builds, dyno tuning etc. Yes heat affect finish. I doubt that the tip there gets hot enough to affect any half way decent coating/finish. That seems like cheap paint to me.

    Had my truck at the dealer for an oil change and showed them the exhaust tip discoloration. They agreed that shouldn't happen and replaced it.

    It is possible that the tip was installed too far outboard (maybe the exhaust gasses had more of a chance to cook it). If installing these OEM tips, keep this in mind:
