I day traded full time in 1998/1999. Thought I knew a thing or two. Multiple servers, dedicated computers, etc., etc.

Based on trade volume, Schwab offered a spot in a dedicated seminar in SF for retail traders. About 20 folks. Great rah, rah intro by a young guy. Then, before the meat of the seminar, an 80 year old employee with earned wisdom shuffles in, tells us 18 of us will be broke by the end of the year and don't know it yet, 15 will be more than broke. Painted a scenario where early success would embolden us, leading to our downfall. Clear his story on the income taxes due next year that we won't be able to pay because we're fully invested, chasing a profit that's long past gone and the financial shell game to follow wasn't a fabrication. He offers "If we leave the seminar now, the entire cost of the seminar and 50% of our travel expenses will be refunded".

Asian woman and I looked at each other on the elevator on the way down, both wondered if we should have stayed.

Sent Charles a bottle of Dom every year after that until he passed away.

Sincerely, Good luck to all you paper millionaires.......April 15, 2022 is much closer than you imagine.

The "I Ain't Paying You" website/app may work with Robin Hood, the IRS on the other hand........

Out? Screw that. Once I'm done with this FEB options I'm putting 30% of my account total into T. 7.5% from divs a year. Sure, I'll have to pay tax on those divs and any gains when I cash the shares out but T doesn't move very much. That's why it's 30% instead of 25% of my portfolio.

I ain't arguing with ya. Literally my first post in this thread was "Don't forget cap gains taxes".

But then, I don't daytrade at all or actively trade even often. I do dedicate about 5% of my portfolio to small positions in active plays I like. This is some of that. I ain't playing with anything I'll even notice is gone if it goes to 0. If I quintuple, great, but it'll only be a few extra paychecks worth of moola and setting aside 22% is easy enough.

I held VZ for like 6 years before selling
Great stock Depending on your goals

if you want a pretty steady stock that doesn’t swing too much and pays a div go for it

if you want growth though there are much better options with higher or the same div yield IMO that will pay you with growth too.

that being said it does look like it took a dive
Just the market or underlying cause?

Yeah. They managed to get back close to their COVID low recently. It's a cheap way to get a 7.5% div return plus it really has to go up at this point. lol

    Applaud your disipline.

No one here needs anyone's validation, certainly not mine. Short squeezes are men's territory. I'm a 60 year old boy.

I still have my money in Doge. Bought 14000 for fun at $0.0025 ($35) which is just a little beer money turned into fun money. I thought about selling when it hit $0.075 ($1050) for a nice bit of extra cash but figured I'd just let it ride. If it actually goes anywhere I'll be doing good, if it doesn't then I'm just out a few beers basically.
