We do not even have insulated garage doors in our area. Thought about putting layers of blue board topped with FRP. Have you ever insulated the doors after installation? Do you think this would work?

I’ll have to check on the kit then. No so much as keeping the cold out but the cool air in during the summer. I only have window unit A/C on my shops. I lose a lot through the metal doors.

OMG, it’s cheap too. $50 per typical door. Mine are a little larger but I can just buy more kits to cover the 12’x14’ door.

The Grizzly is a G1019. It's a hand-me-down. I only use it for blank trimming and scroll work. Really that's about all it's good for. The guide system sucks. If you really want a more gooder bandsaw get one of these...
    16120537600188001833499605223315.jpg

You'll be looking for projects that require bandsaw work if you get one. I hear the Laguna equivalent is just as nice. They usually run around the same price.

Were you drilling straight through or did you drill a little back out and drill some more. I had better luck drilling a little at a time and backing out.

I back out. You can clog the bit real easy if your speed is high.

I never looked into the acrylic ones. Are they difficult to turn?

I start with the drill press but mine only has 2 3/4” of travel. I then put it on the table and clamp it off to drill through a little at a time. I like to make sure the flutes are not getting clogged. I had a hidden fracture which made a couple of them split.

Those were premade for a specific pen. Meaning the blank was cast to the tube. I've had trouble with regular blanks that you drill and glue the tube into. If you don't get a good glue they can shatter off the tube mid turn so I like to load them up with glue.

They can be stringy unlike wood. So you may have to stop and clean it off. You also have to pay attention to chatter and gouges. I only use Carbide to turn them

You have to have super sharp bits or carbide bits, and it cant be cold out. Not really a big problem for you down there. It was for me when i lived in idaho. Then take light passes taking material down, otherwise it grabs and whole thing pops
