Hey guys. I have a 2015 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport. My Dickhead boss thought it would be a great idea to run a wire in my fuse box from my brake lights to my horn. I pulled the wire out and there are no more problems with my horn every time I touch the break. But now my whole gauge cluster is screwed up. My rpm gauge isn’t working. Along with my speedometer and my temp gauge. I also have an ABS light, BRAKE light, and traction control light. I’ve checked all fuses and they are fine. I just ordered new relays in hopes that is the problem?

My main question is could there be something else wrong? Could my computer be fried or could my gauge cluster be fried?

If anyone has any ideas I Would greatly appreciate it.

Here is my Trucks gauge cluster:
    AA624E14-43DC-4251-985B-A352A7AE74A5.jpg

As you can see, the truck is on and I have no Rpms nor heat. I’m open to any ideas of what may be going on!!

He said that they put wires from everything to find out what made the brake and horn linked. He said at one point that the windshield wipers were going crazy.

I checked the fuses by looking at them. And I also put a tester to them and the light came on. So I don’t know what it could be.

He agrees to pay for whatever. I was just wondering if it could be something that I could fix at home?

Take it to a dealer. Its likely the "boss" FUBARd something while he (they) were experimenting.

Get a repair quote, record all conversations with dealer and your boss. Get a witness who saw or knew about the prank,

Be prepared to quit and take the moron boss to Small Claims Court. Don't be afraid to report the incident to the next level of management.

    Also, begin hunting another job.

Boss man is a good guy. He didn’t know that was gonna happen. And he agreed to fix anything. I came on this site to get help. Not to get told that my boss is a dick and that I should quit

Do you really want to work for someone with the attitude they can mess with employees private property?

FWIW, I didn't call your boss any names. I did say he was a moron, referring to his intelligence and actions.

The help offered was to take to a dealer, get quote, get prepared to go to Small Claims Court and to report the incident to upper management.

"Good guy" or not, does not matter. He has no reason nor authority nor right to tamper with employee's private property. This is Vandalism.

Do what you think is appropriate. Don't be surprised if the boss balks when he sees the repair quote then denies involvement. He will take steps to protect his job and position.

This man makes more in a year than you do in a lifetime. I’ve known him forever. He’s more of a brother than a boss. Why you think this shits gonna blow out of proportion I think is hilarious.

So instead of putting your two scents about what you think of my boss. I would appreciate it if you only told me how I could possibly fix it if it was a simple job. And if it is not a simple job then I know what to do when it comes to that point. But for now, don’t throw what you think of people into the equation. Because in all honesty I don’t give a fuck what you think of my boss.

My sense of it is that your boss will make good on it and this will be a valuable (and probably expensive) lesson learned. Personally, I love practical jokes but have learned that you should never mess with someone's personal property. Practical jokes can go bad and this is one example.

Yessir! I agree. But I like how you responded. You never called anyone a moron. You saw the good in the situation.

Wow....you know my lifetime income....based on 2 posts. Oh, sorry. 3 posts now.

You were offered suggestions about how to handle the situation and how to protect yourself.

I've seen this type of prank "blow out of proportion" several times.

Your choice. My 2 CENTS, nothing involving smell.

We are always given choices. We can assume the victim role and then as a victim seek retribution, or we suspend ego and move forward in a positive direction. The latter is how I role....

The last resort would be bring it to the dealer and have them troubleshoot the issues.....

Start checking all fuses in all fuse boxes. That’s something simple that you can do before going to have a pro look at it. Might get lucky.

    I am totally speechless.

I will give the OP kudos for his friendship and good feelings towards his boss after this immature vandalism. I don't understand it, but I will give him credit. I myself could not and would not be so forgiving to someone that fucked up my truck regardless of how much money he makes or has.

He should insist that you take it for a proper repair at Toyota and rent you a truck to drive while it is in the shop. I would accept nothing less at a minimum.

Your truck, your friend, your choice.

    Good luck.

    It could be worse.
I’ve seen far worse outcomes from stick things where they don’t belong.

Anyways, if you are determined to try to look at it yourself.
You’ll probably need a scan tool. I see SRS and ABS lights on.
See if you have codes, and go from there.
