What’s up fellas. I’m new on here. I have 2017 Tacoma off road trd. I want to put 2.5- 3” lift probably icon and 33” tires but my garage door is old style swing out type and truck is stock at moment and I only have like 8” max to fit in garage. Stock tires 265/70R16. About 30”. Logically 3” lift +3” tire difference =6” but just want to make sure before I spend a bunch of money and can’t fit in garage after. So if someone knows how much height exactly those add or could measure their truck roof height that has what I want that would be great. Thank you!

Just FYI a 3" bigger tire will only provide 1.5" of lift.

30” to 33” is 3” diameter and 1.5” radius. Also depending on lift, the springs start higher then settle over time. I’ve installed a lift and then put new tires on in a garage. Then couldn’t back out. Had to put old tires on and back out of garage. Good idea measuring beforehand.

Just drop tire pressure everytime you park in garage.

Also spring rebound/compression is a thing to becareful of, measurements change if you're pissed off parking your truck.

Why Icon? Just curious... They get a bad rep from their horrible customer service and shock issues. Seems the only thing they make well is leaf packs...just sayin

Also 3” lift is the absolute max you will want to go in a suspension lift, but logically 2” would be better so your components don’t suffer and the ride won’t suck

Lol. Quality advice. Or I could spend $ for lift on getting new garage doors that roll up instead of swing out which should give more room but then no lift for a good while

Icon seems good. Not necessarily stuck on it I really don’t know shit about lifts. This will be first lifted truck.

I agree that the max you want to lift your taco truck is 2.5 inches and max out tire size at 275 70 17 or equivalent. Plenty of tire charts out there that can give you equivalent tires sizes. Be aware of gearing issues when increasing tire circumference. Going to 3” lift will put stress on the rest of your components. If you serious about off-roading more than looks, look no further than what they do in Australia. I think the massive lifts and tires sizes are defiantly a North American fixation.

Good info, thanks a lot! I don’t want to go big. Want to keep performance a priority. So I will most likely follow advice of 2.5

My truck is 2013 TRD 4X4, 3-inch lifted in the front, and 1 & 1/2 block in the back. I have 18/9 rims. I don't have any modifications on my suspensions front and back, my tire size 285/65/18's. Never took my ride yet to the mountains so only all roadside driving. Will this be resulting a problem later on? What do you recommend ASAP to avoid anything mechanically or gears issues later. I just put on the tires and rims two weeks ago. Thanks for your advices.
