    Hey friends,

Just entered the Taco world after lusting for years. I got a quicksand 2017 trd off road. I started with some standard mods I could offered and one of them was some mud guards. I ordered the flaps below from Husky. I went to line them up on the truck and alas, could not find any place to connect or screw in a whole for the inside screw. Additionally, they sent a set of screws with the back flaps but none with the front.

Has anyone had this problem with the company, the flaps, installation? Am I just an idiot?

Like, I spent a decent amount of time under the truck and couldn't find anything other than a piece of cheap plastic to connect the inside side to.

Here is the instructions link as well.

    Help a new homey out.

Here's a video of the third gen mud flap install. This might help you with the holes. The stock toyota mudflaps are clipped on with plastic clip. Since these are screw you might have to get screw rivets.

These look heavy duty. Something a lift truck would have (need). I am curious to see what these look like after you install. Post some pics after and welcome to TW.

Did you get factory mud flaps? If you did, lay them down on top of them as a template and drill through the holes. If the holes just aren't there, use self tapping screws, seems like they want you to make the new holes.

You're correct. It looks like it's all screwed on for the third gen. For some reason I thought I saw plastic screw rivets or something installed.

Making an attempt, but predrilling the screw holes to be just right is a nightmare. Tried to use a cardboard template, still not lining up, probably due to flex/rubber/weight. Factory screws barely make it through the flap and it only came with 50 percent of the screws it needs. The rear inside screw is inset deeper and hard to see, mark or match up. They are also heavy, I am concerned it might not hold up with the four screws in their light sheathing.

The holes don't have to be perfect. You can use larger washers and they will be secure. If you don't have holes, just drill new ones. They say self-tapping screws.

    Reviving an old post.

I bought these without the metal weights on them. Highly recommended! Especially for someone who off roads. They are heavy rubber and flex and bend unlike the stock plastic mud guards.

I used 1.25” 14x sheet metal screws. I drilled the holes then countersunk them with a bit the size of the screw head to keep them flush.

I bought them “used/open box” off Amazon for $70 total front and rear.
