It ain’t good. To save a lot of potential grief down the road, I’d R&R that.

Google search brought up YouTube vids and links to tw. I suggest do a little research, start over with new parts, also replace anything you dented up beating on it. I think you'll need to hit the rust with emery cloth

Also, only drive it in flush with the adjacent surface. It looks like you drove it in too far.

Yes!!!! If you don’t have a seal driver, you can substitute a walrus driver, or simply get a socket with an OD slightly smaller than the seal, turn it around and tap it in with that.

Definitely replace that seal, it will leak in the near future.

Passenger side seal depth is 0.1890 to 0.2284 in.
Drivers side seal depth is -0.0177 to 0.0177 in

Shoot for flush, toyota recommends an SST, I've used an ABS fitting and a piece of lumber to drive the seal in pretty succesfully in the past. Just make sure you drive it in even and there are no rough spots on the differential housing.

I replaced on a Corolla a few months back and used a piece of PVC pipe with a cap on the end I was hitting with a hammer. It worked great.
I need to buy a set of seal drivers, but in a pinch.....

I just use the axle itself to drive in the seal. Get the seal inserted flush a little bit then let the axle drive it in as far as it needs to go.

Works on a 1st gen anyway

2nd round went much better, I just got impatient with the first. Actually used the crap seal to help drive the new one, creative instead of impatient for the win.
    Thanks for the help fellas...
Disclaimer...likely to move on to wheel bearing assemblies since this didn’t fix a slight hum above 62 that goes away when I turn left...please bear with me and maybe also be prepared for more questions :)
    Thanks again!!! D9273F4B-13AE-41D0-91A1-643FC0DEE1B5.jpg
