House Bill 1283 will make it a felony to openly carry a firearm (or any weapon) in a group.

If you live in WA, please take 10 seconds (literally that's how long it took me) to go to the link below and with one click send your representatives a pre-written email (that you can edit and append if you want) asking them to oppose this bill.

    https://act.nraila.org/actions/campaigns/10808

To me, this goes beyond politics. Also, in full disclosure I do not open carry unless I'm in the mountains or on my way too the mountains, but it's the principle. No need for a debate here on open vs concealed. This is part of the constitution and will likely be a "give an inch, take a mile" and "foot in the door" situation if it passes.

Yeah, IA just passed a Bill that reaffirms the 2nd Amendment. But there are those who fear this will limit the restrictions that can be passed. So, in a nutshell they want this binned, so they can pass restrictions unfettered.

Don't misunderstand me. I'm pro-2nd. Although, I have a difficult time supporting assault or military grades in public hands.

    Sorry, don't believe.

Too many AKs in public hands along with others......Barret99 (as example)

I am not trying to get into a debate, but can you explain/describe what makes a rifle military grade?

    Nope.....too easy.

Nice bait into a discussion likely leading to banishment.

    You absolutely understand the meaning.

In an effort to prevent this thread from becoming a dumpster fire:

I respect your right to disagree/ disapprove, but this isn't the thread to start said debate. Feel free to start your own thread on that topic or better yet, a private conversation with multiple users.

I would encourage you to do some research though. Military grade isn't an actual classification. You may mean semi-automatic, automatic, rifle, carbine, AR platform, AK platform, etc. and combinations within. I'm happy to have a further discussion with you in a private conversation.

A corpsman’s hatchet is a military grade weapon.

Another pot stirrer. Please stop. Again, there is no such term. There is mil-spec, which is a real thing and some firearms even have that designation. Not all AR-15s are mil spec though, and most mil-spec firearms are not available to civilians at all.

Not trying to stir the pot. My point was just that made up classifications mean nothing. Good luck your effort to get the bill overturned.

There's some serious crap in this legislative session that intends to make the state safer for criminals and not law abiding citizens. Hi cap magazine bans, police won't be able to pursue anything but violent criminals or use dogs to apprehend or arrest suspects...

The washington constitution, which grants us even clearer rights than the federal constitution is pretty clear when it comes to firearms; the right of the individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself, or the state, shall not be impaired....

    Shall not be impaired....
