So I googled FN wheels to speak with Dustin on ordering a set of the FX pros. I saw that FN wheels is closed all week??? I called a left a message with Dustin hoping to hear back. So I went to another website and that website said the the FX pro is on a 4 month lead time to get the wheel and they had it priced at 300 per wheel??? Or 1200 for 4??? Seems a little high for 4 wheels??? I realize demand is high but still???

I haven’t heard much from FN lately. And yeah, prices have been insane for wheels lately. I dropped nearly $1000 on a set of wheels a while ago. If you’re interested in other brands, RelationsRaceWheels has some really nice wheels and it’s a small company. I preordered mine back in December and they ship this week, hopefully.

I paid $1200 for a set of FN BFD's 7 years ago....just an FYI. Still running them for now.

I heard back from Dustin today . What a great guy . Awesome. So I put the deposit down and ordered the wheel I wanted so good to go. He moved his shop from Orange to Corona California which is about 20 miles. So that’s why he has been tough to reach. But, love the fact that my order is in. 4 to 5 week lead time.

we will keep each other posted my man! what color did u end up with with - looked like u were between the dark gunmetal gloss and the gunmetal matte maybe ? are you lifted and do u ahve the stock size tires or are u gonna get new ones when you upgrade the wheels ? i'm leaning towards just getting the miles out of my current tires as they only have 12,000 and have an 80,000 mile warranty! figure I might as well use up the rubber even if they are highway tires... dont ahve the aggressive tread pattern but I guess that'll be ok! i've gone almost 13 years of having the truck without having them haha...

Haha yea man for sure. I went with the matte gunmetal. They are a bit lighter that the other two. Since my truck is the magnetic grey I wanted some contrast. I’m upgrading the tires too at the same time. I’m going 1 inch taller same width, so 265 70 17, or 31.6 in diameter. Stock suspension, no lift. It’s the biggest size tire without any trimming I can do ... when I’m done with these tires after 50 k miles I’ll upgrade to a 3 inch lift and get 275 70 17, so a little wider 32 inches in diameter.

But too much money to do all that right now, my truck was 37k. The wheels and tires are gonna set me back 1800, so baby steps my man....

I totally get that! it's def gonna be a phased out process for me too. that's why i'm gonna roll on the same tires I have on right now for a bit with the new wheels. they just have too much left on them not to lol. i'm not sure i'll want to ride the full 80,000 miles on them, but they do have that warranty so it's kinda like hmmmm lol but yeah i'll prob upgrade the tires the same time I do the lift (If I do one). otherwise, I may just upgrade the tires to ALL TERRAIN style with the same size u mentioned 265/70/17 and call it a day with the wheels and stock suspension. I thought I had read somewhere that going from 65 to 70 only gave us a half an inch ? is it an inch ? I dont know much about these things ha..

It’s an inch. Stock tire size is 265 70 16. So the wheel is an inch shorter. Your gaining the inch on the wheel itself going to a 17, hence 17 inches in diameter. But the size tire is actually the same . 265 being the width of the tire and 70 being the size from the top of the rim to the top end of the tire.

the main number to consider is the total diameter... in this case it’s 31.6. A 265 70 17 and a 265 75 16 has the almost the exact same diameter @ 31.6. The only difference is you show more tire and less rim on a 265 75 16 and you show more rim on a 265 70 17.

If I had a 4x4 and did a lot of off roading I would go with the smaller rim and more tire. That is good because you can deflate the tire when off roading to get more cushion and traction. But since my truck is my daily driver and a 2x4, but with the off road package, I elected as most do for a more attractive look on the road by showing more wheel and a little less tire. It still works off roading, but less aggressive off roading opposed to a person would do if they had a full bore 4x4. Make sense? For me I want a better looking curb appeal and stance. The truck with the stock wheels just looks way too boring. Lol

Ah makes sense. Yours comes stock with 16’s. Mines a sport so it came with 17’s.

Correct I have to change the whole thing if I want to go with 17’s. Which is ok, because I hate the stock wheels. The most ugly thing I’ve ever seen.

Haha yeah I’ve had mine on for 12 years now and I think the sport wheels aren’t terrible on the 2nd gens. I’m like u. I go for more curb appeal as I have a 2WD and am more of a city driver guy. I want to have “the look” kinda ha. With a more aggressive wheel and tire stance and possibly a mild lift (5100’s with OME and AAL possibly). Yeah I bought the sport bc I liked the color matched door handles and mirrors lol. She’s been amazing to me and I’m kinda stepping up the mods for her 13th birthday ha

^looks like I’ll gain just a tiny bit with tires alone if I went up to 70 sidewall from 65 since I already have 17’s.

Yep you’ll gain an inch. I like the 2 gen wheels way better too, so I see your point. They just got ugly in the 3 gen. For the sport and the off road. I don’t know what Toyota was thinking. Probably saving money in production. I remember when I bought my 04 trd off road. It came stock with BF Goodrich At tires with a nice aggressive tread. Don’t know what they are thinking these days. Like I said probably saving in cost. But the truck is still way expensive. So I really don’t see their point.
