Yes, it works. And with little effort.

Yesterday I put a 2nd gen trd exhaust on my 3rd gen truck. I own a double cab long bed, and used a 05-15 Dclb trd exhaust. All the hangers line up the same, except the rear one. All I had to do was cut the flange off my 3rd gen exhaust, cut the 2nd gen down shorter, weld the flange on, and she’s done.

Not sure exactly how a 3rd gen trd exhaust sounds, but this 2nd gen exhaust sounds fantastic on my truck. It sounds like it should, a little louder than stock, it has a clean tone. I would say the drone level on a scale of 1-10, 10 being very droney.. it’s about a 3. But cruising on the freeway, you can’t even tell you have exhaust. Super clean. 2 cuts, one weld and she’s done.
So if anyone is looking to do exhaust, and retain OEM quality.. visit your local Toyota dealer and buy a 2nd gen trd exhaust and save a couple hundred dollars.

Thanks for this post! How come the 2nd gen exhaust was longer if both were DCLB with the same wheelbase? And what did you do for the last hanger? Looking to do the same. Cheers!
