I’m on the list for the Bronco, but I can only get the neutered 2.3L 4 cyl engine with the manual transmission. I need to own at least one manual vehicle. I sold my stick Passat diesel in December, first time since I got my license in 1992 that I haven’t owned a manual. My feet and legs are too long to safely drive the Tacoma in a manual, I tried.

That 2.7L 6 cyl and 10 speed combo is great in the F-150, it should rip in the Ranger and Bronco. The Ranger Raptor concept is interesting to compete with the Colorado ZR2, should be in a league beyond the Tacoma for performance if it lives up to the Raptor name. I’m guessing it will be stupid money, might as well buy a full size Raptor. I not getting rid of the Tacoma, I have a place in my stable for both the Tacoma and my new Bronco.

Nothing Nissan says or does will ever excite me. My 1994 300ZX twin turbo was an awesome car, and they replaced it with that rubbish 350Z. The 370Z was a little better, but they were too small for someone over 6’ so I didn’t fit.

Good for Nissan for finally updating the frontier. I just can’t believe they sell a 2021 vehicle that looks almost identical to a 2005 inside and out

Not the Frontier for me, just still looks outdated and under equipped to me. Not the Raptor version of the Ranger either, that will surely be 50k+. A nice Ranger Lariat, possible. My lease will be expiring on my Limited around then and I’ll give Ford a look, if I don’t like it, right back into another Tacoma.

Personally no, I’m sticking with my 2019. However Toyota still has to build a competitive product. It’s a win for the consumer.

No interest in the Frontier. If the Ranger Raptor get the equivalent of a Sasquatch Package (able to fit 37" tires without trimming or regearing), I would take a serious look at it.

Someone posted a link to this article in response to my previous post and must’ve deleted their post.

    https://www.motortrend.com/news/ford-bronco-sasquatch-manual/

The Sasquatch manual Bronco will be a 4 cylinder. The manual trans is maxed out at 400 ft/lb of torque, the 2.7 6 cyl puts out 400 ft/lb, so it could break the trans. They advertise 4.71 gears on the Sasquatch, but the manual already comes with 4.46 gears compared to the 3.73 in the 10 speed. The Sasquatch would have to come with 5.29 or something to be an equivalent ratio compared to the automatic. Sasquatch jacks the price up to $46K on the Badlands I’m looking at, if I still live in AZ and rock crawled I’d go for it.

In reality the $40K Cyber Orange Badlands with the rear locker and steel wheels I can swap for Methods and 285/70R17 tires is plenty for where I live. I’d probably go base model for $33K as I’d spec it, but I want a hitch and the interior I can hose out for going on the beach.

Since I’m ordering it sight unseen, I’m taking a gamble that I’ll fit at 6’4” and built like a defensive tackle. If I don’t fit I’ll probably still buy it to put it up for sale immediately and try to get a premium while they are unobtanium.

You'll need to go full electric if you want to eliminate sparks and oil although changes are less frequent on a hybrid they're still required.

But I'm with you electric power is the future

Nissans design team is out of touch and behind the times and the Ranger is....well a Ford and honestly I'd rather pay for a Tacoma than be given and made to drive the Nissan or the Ford.

Honestly if the Ranger had the same amount of interior storage as a Taco, I might have bought one over the Taco. The Raptor Ranger sounds interesting, but if they can't find a way to let me haul my crap around it won't matter. A manual would be nice also.

Don’t know about the Ranger or Frontier, but the 2021 Raptor is revealed today at 11 am! Supposedly, it will have a V8 option!

I might be the first person in the thread that is actually truly excited about the frontier. My dad had a 2003 frontier with the crew cab and 6 foot bed and I loved the shit out of that truck. When it finally died at 279k miles he got a 2014 Tacoma DCLB which was nice but it didn’t feel anything like the Nissan. The engine in the frontier has some pep and immediately jumped up and went when you put your foot on the pedal. The interior was super comfortable and the look of the truck was nice, especially since he had the canteen green color. When they updated it in 2005 I really didn’t like the look of the truck at all so I’m excited to see what they do for this next gen. When my lease is up in 2023 I’ll for sure take a look at a frontier.
