Just had my tires rotated and oils changed (20k service still under "toyota care"). Hopped on the freeway after and the wobbles happened. Called up toyota and they said balancing wasn't included so it would be $90.

Went to a local guy ($30) that was one of the only ones open on sunday. He let me watch the machine, one tire was off 5oz and another 3oz. Either the shop who originally put them on was lazy and only did the front or I knocked off weights hitting bumps. Either way, my KO2s have been finicky balancing.

Just installed my second set of Wildpeak 265/75/16. Great in the dry, rain, snow, dirt, sand ... mud not so much.

Well I guess that solves the several complaints I have read just on Tacoma World. I sure am glad that you had no problems as well as your friends and you can clear up this negative rumor that these tires have. Oh and I assume they are the best tires for rain and snow too and don't suck ass like what everyone says. Thanks for your help. If you take the first ten pages and let them know the facts on your experience iI will do the next ten pages. Man I cannot thank you enough.

I'm a fan of BFG KO2's. I've been running a set of E-Rated 33" KO2's on my Silverado Tow Rig. They've only been on that rig since last June and have ~5,000 Highway miles on them. They do ride a little stiffer then the 10 year old C or D Rated BFG's which they replaced, but my Silverado is a heavy truck which 90% of the time is loaded and towing something. I've driven on them in rain and on graded fire roads with no problems. The set I had previously never gave me any problems with balancing or odd vibrations either.

FWIW I'm also running a set of KO2's on the rear of my off-road car. That car see's mostly graded (and un-graded) dirt roads and trails. I've had them on that car for almost two years and like them for everything but sand.

If I were going to buy new tires for my Taco, they would be KO2's. If you're worried about them, buy them from a large retailer such as America's Tire which offers a pretty generous return and warranty policy.

Have had the same experience with my wildpeaks. Have had them balanced multiple times, rotated, swapped out the tires with the highest road force, etc.

My steering wheel doesn't vibrate but I get a harmonic buzz through the floorboard at 55mph.

I got tired of messing with it, going to the tire shop, begging the tire techs not to chew up my black lugnuts and pro wheels.

Shop manager said they get complaints across all the major tire brands and AT tires, I think Tacoma's are just really picky with tires, balancing, vibrations, etc. There's complaints about vibrations and steering shake with totally stock trucks. Add bigger tires, weight, lift, mess with the driveline angles and it's all amplified.

I only have about 200 miles so far on the KO2’s but in those 200 miles I have noticed the road noise is definitely there where the AT3’s were very quiet. As far as power and braking I haven’t felt a noticeable difference. As far as ride quality the AT3’s were actually quite smooth. Just when I hit that 55mph mark is when I would have issues. The KO2’s you can definitely tell you're driving on an A/T tire but no more vibration.

I'm on wildpeaks now and have a vibration starting at 55-60mph. Had a set of ko2s for 3000 miles before them that had the same vibration and a used set of wildpeaks before that with even more vibration. Don't remember stock tires having this problem. After 5 shops including 2 toyota dealers, 3 different tires with 3 different wheels, and multiple balance/road force balance I'm at a loss. Maybe tacomas are sensitive and just ride like this with AT tires. As someone else mentioned on this thread, it's more of a strong buzzing vibration. Can live with it for normal driving, but very annoying on long trips.

    Haha!

I can screenshot too from google. So apperantly falken has a balancing issue as well? Hard spots too? Hmmnn

    You guys are funny...

I can screen shoot pages from google with issues with pretty much every tire ever built, but nice try. Not saying falken is a bad tire, this is just an example. You can find people bitching about every thing online, you should know that.

Roadnoise? Ko2s are silent on the highway sir. I have confirmed that many times. What pressure are you running?

40 psi. I’m not saying they’re howling like a mud terrian but I can definitely hear them.

The opinions on tire threads is starting to get worse than the oil threads.

I can screen shot your threads that you started claiming you know bfgs are hard to balance and after 2 years your bfgs are cracking. Want me to refresh your memory?

I have no issues with my WP. I went stock size due to weight and paid less than $100/tire.

Yes please, refresh my memory. I wanna see that thread.

You just proved that you are a liar.

To save you time and emberassment, that thread was regarding premature sidewall cracks. BFG pro rated my tires and i got better C loads. Im happy.

    Keep trying buddy...

Yep, just like you can google about 3rd gen tranny problems.

95% of 3rd gen trannies are actually perfectly fine. People dont know how to drive or have different expectations.
