HELP! I just bought a complete set of 3rd Generation, 2017 TACOMA SPORT (Hitachi) shocks w/coils still mounted ......BUT.....the seller had them changed out by a 4X4 shop (who put a lift on for him) and they did NOT mark which of the front shocks/coils came off of the Driver -or- Passenger side of the truck......
They are marked as follows: one set factory-marked with Orange and Grey "dots".......and the other set factory-marked with Green and Grey "dots". Would some of you guys that have experience with this upgrade.... know which side goes on which side? In my reading here on TacomaWorld I understand that this is important as to my front end being level when these are re-installed on my 2012 Tacoma Sport. Thanks to all for your learned advice. P.S. be patient with me I'm an old-fart..........

Just checked mine on a new 2018 Sport and had the orange and grey dots on both right and left sides, orange on the 3rd coil from bottom and gray on the second from bottom. Both shocks have the same 48510-04220 Hitachi part number. Don't know if the different color paint dots correspond to different spring rates or if they are just for a visual for inspection of parts installed and tightened on the assembly line. Have a feeling it's the latter. As parts are installed and tightened they are given a swipe of a paint pen or grease pencil to show it was tightened to the correct spec and/or inspected as such, usually with different individuals given different colors to make back checking to a certain individual possible for QC purposes. It looks like a rainbow under my truck, a lot of different colors on just about all the nuts, bolts, fasteners and such. Kind of makes me feel a little better that someone is actually doing things right or checking that they are being done right, hopefully.

Someone actually posted a day or two after this post and answered the question someone else had asked. Turns out the paint dabs are for spring rates for the left and right sides. It's in here somewhere. If I find it I'll repost it.
