The lease on my Pro will be coming due when the Ranger Raptor is expected to hit the market. I'll give it a look, but I'm definitely loving my Taco. I'd love to get the Mag SC, I'd love to get some more juice out of this Taco.

Sounds great. But not a Tacoma. Those other two are awful to look at. And Fords resale and quality...
Having real competition is good though and man I took a hard look at the Ranger. It was more $ for less room and known lower brand quality over time.

Ford will have nice features I'm sure, but not banking on it for longevity (or durability over time). The Nissan...well, its just another option. Need to see if they bring anything creative. Doesn't matter as I'll still be happy with my supercharged (by then) '21 Taco.

Just read an article about the '21 F150 Raptor will have an option for 37" tires, from the factory. 37" Tire trucks will have a different frame from 35" trucks because Ford insists on including a full-size, 37" spare. I've also seen 2 different articles about a possible V-8 Raptor R. One article said it would be for off-road use only and not street legal. The second said it would be a regular production truck.....

From all evidence I've seen, the Nissan Frontier is a very solid truck. Both my brother and father own(ed) Frontiers and never an issue. My Dad passed last August and had a '09 with about 140K miles. He was not known for doing routine maintenance and I bet he only changed the oil 2 or 3 times the entire time he owned the truck, if that. It sat in his garage for about 3 months, after he passed, and I expected the truck to be a complete basket-case but was pleasantly surprised how well it ran and solid it felt. Once I got the title cleared, I changed the oil, cleaned it up and sold it within a couple days.

I've not driven a newer Ranger and don't have a feel for their reliability. They are cheap on the used market, at least where I live, which is not a comforting sign. I like Ford but have little faith in their EcoBoost engines. I've heard too many horror stories and both co-workers that have EB F150's say they wouldn't buy another.

Compared to the tacmoa the driving experience is more nimble and car like. Acceleration feels leaps and bounds better. i know better than to buy the first year model so i passed. But it was the most impressive of all the trucks i drove

If they at least fixed the crappy turn radius the Frontier has that will be a step in the right direction.

Excited to see what it looks like cause why not, but haven’t been much a fan of Nissans styling choices.

I hear you. I like the way the look and they are pretty large, in person. Hard to tell from a F150 from the back. My concern is you can find XLT 4x4's, roughly equivalent to a TRD OR Tacoma, for $10K less than a Tacoma. 1 local dealer had several, 2020 XLT 4x4 Rangers, with <3,000 miles, listed for around $30/$31K. Not sure if they were press fleet trucks or what as the Carfax lists them as "corporate" vehicles. Good luck finding a 2020 Tacoma 4x4 for $30K. The market decides what a commodity is worth and the market, obviously values a Tacoma significantly higher than a Ranger.

I saw a newer ranger with a "Raptor" decal on the bed today and thought to myself "I didn't know they made those" but I guess it was just some dude tryin to look cool huh.

In my opinion Ford has probably the least refined interior of any truck manufacturer and I expect the Ranger Raptor to be no different. Its gonna cost $60k to get the one you really want that has the normal features you'd expect like a freaking bed liner and entry level tech like radar cruise control. Its probably going to be so wide that it won't fit in a standard garage so why not just get the big daddy f150 Raptor at that point. The worst downside is it will not retain its value like a Tacoma. All this money and compromise for like a 2 second faster 0-60, no thanks.

Nissan as a company is dying a slow death so no thanks.
