1980 Hilux headlight replacement

Looking to upgrade stock headlights. Found Cibie, which looks legit, but it’s halogen.

Anyone had any luck with Cibie or an LED brand? Thanks

 

Can't help you with any suggestions for headlight upgrades, but that is one good looking 1980 pickup. It looks pretty clean and rust free. Most beds of this era (79-83) had pretty bad bed rust. Looks like it is still wearing the stock wheels.

 

Thanks! Stock wheels, though probably not original to the truck. I had a 79 Sport with every option, it had those wheels. Got a build thread in Other Builds, 1980 HiLux 4wd base model long bed. Not much in there yet. Daniel Stern Lighting is who I contacted for Cibie lights. He doesn’t answer emails fast but had a lot of good info. Pretty much everything on Amazon is junk, Cibie went downhill also on their quality. Thinking those are all Chinese mfgs. I bought a Japanese brand Koito which is H4, harness, side marker bulbs (brighter), a module to make sides blink along with turn signals from DS Lighting. Once everything is installed I’ll post in build thread. Bed has mostly surface rust which I’ll clean up. 1st plan was to spray in a bed liner but I guess that makes people nervous. I will undercoat for sure.

 

Back in the day (like 8 years ago), I used to run some Hella E-Code h4 headlights. They were a super good patterned headlight, and then you have the option of running higher wattaged halogen bulbs. Not sure if they still make those exact ones, as I'm sure theres tons of options nowadays.

 

Heard good things about Hella. May run some auxiliary lights eventually, I’ll check into H. Started rust removal in bed, best disk is the Harbor Freight polycarbide. Prob take 8 discs to do the main part, then some kind of edge tool for the corners.
