What’s your thoughts on Fast rings. Are they worth it or better than regular baffles?

Here's a picture of the rack equipment in their screening room that I took while I was there getting certified to install, maintain, and calibrate their equipment.

    DSCN0543.jpg

    Here's their shitty wiring.

    DSCN0545.jpg

This may be true, I don't know, but it is irrelevant. Everything else you said was just inciteful, for what reason I'm not going to speculate because it doesn't matter. Something I noticed about intelligent people, especially self proclaimed, is that they tend to think only in terms of what their understanding of what a situation is, or within only their prospective circumstances, thinking anything outside of that is inconsequential, a distraction. They tend not to listen because they're busy solving your problems for you before you even pose them.

Without first hand knowledge, your claim is that the factory radio's output is perfectly satisfactory. I mean how couldn't it be? Look at these shitty speakers! Here's a situation where some first hand experience would have informed you differently. Many of the people that come here to help others haven't installed just one stereo, but many, and in many configurations. These same people have test equipment, have really gotten their hands dirty screwing around with these Toyota sound systems.

I'm not the only one to have replaced just the speakers, or just the stereo, or added DSP functionality. I mean really taken the time to gather as much information as possible, upgrading in stages so we could share information. I'm speaking to you from a position of first hand experience that, as my friend already explained to you before you ignored and berated his input, the factory speakers, while not high quality, are not the low hanging fruit in terms of what the factory Toyota sound system needs to become a better sounding system. When you treat the doors, and ad some modicum of alignment functionality to the system, they are capable of sounding much better than anyone would believe.

The biggest issue is the radio's factory tune, specifically the low and mid-bass, and the fact that you have just three adjustments, High, Mid, and Low but the center frequencies for these are in spots where you have no recourse to correct any deficiencies, not "Stock 6x9 speakers are the lowest quality POS I’ve ever seen in my life", literally you just need a useful EQ.

So go ahead and continue to throw elbows and insult people that challenge your assumptions if that's how you get your kicks. There are better places for high drama, however. I'm simply here for everyone else here who might take you seriously.

Dolby first of all I am sorry. You’re my friend now let’s carry on...

That was an incredible diary entry, I feel like i was watching the Bridges of Madison County while you took us down your 30 yr glory days, all knowing dinosaur.

show me the science! I’ve seen more scientific criticism from dr Phil and that ghost hunter to show.

I thought we were just having a good ole time roll playing and roasting each other until your cohort attacked me. Look at thread title dude.

You like the stallion engage in straw man fallacies, where you make an imaginary argumentative point and beat the living piss out of it. You have exhausted your limited knowledge. My resume will make yours look like a Brownies sash. If I’m an idiot then you’re a goddamn moron!

Clearly you have zero sense of humor and take yourself so seriously as to hang out in a forum and really think you’re da man. Arguing with a Juice Weasel! You act like a dweeb. I’ve met and fired dozens of people like you and unfortunately have hired a handful too.

That photo of what looks like a medium budget porn control room from the 80s is impressive though.

Truce. I look forward to learning from you and will take you up on your offer to fix my old studer tape machine and 16 channels of crappy Dolby NR.

    live on.

P.s. everything in my post is 100% accurate you literally have proven nothing otherwise.

    is this entertaining or what?

I have them didn’t make much of a difference but I installed them on all the doors anyway. I also tested the boom mats they made everything sound worse.

thanks. I could see the front and back ring helping someone but I wasn’t sure about the foam block behind it inside the door. Appreciate the feedback

Fast rings are pretty much a half assed method of sealing the speaker to the door card so you don’t trap sound behind the panel. I think it’s a good idea to do that, but correctly spacing the speaker so it mates up with some weatherstrip would be preferable over creating a 1-2” tunnel of foam.

The foam block behind is meant to reduce reverberation caused by rear speaker energy, so I guess that can’t hurt. I’ve done it with and without with no dramatic difference.

I’d be more inclined to install the foam block than the fast rings, having done it a few times. Getting the mounting bracket right is my first priority.

good point. I figured some good solid speakers adaptors with foam to seal them to the door and deaden the door with some Noico. Thanks for the advice and experience. My plan is some Hertz components up front with the Alpine powerpack bridged to them at 90watts. Id run nee 12-14guage from the speakers directly to the amp vs using stock speaker wiring
