Thought I’d stop by and tell everyone to get the extra insurance. In July 2019, I went on a road trip from Oregon to Washington, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Idaho and back home. Hit every trail and National Park on the way. Was awesome until Colorado when a tree fell on my truck. Dickhead built bumper, hood, windshield, canopy, and plenty of damage down the passenger side and no injuries.

Insurance paid, but it took about a year to get the cap replaced. Insurance wanted to fix it 2x before they conceded. The body shop guy let me know to check into extra insurance then and I took his advice. Like many here, the truck was decked out, front, back, top, and bottom. I put an extra $10k value on insurance knowing I had more into it but never figured on totaling it. Who does?

So just over a month ago I hit a cow on a rural highway. Nope, not an elk cow..........A mooooo cow. Let’s just say jumping a cow was not in my plans but here I am, sadly with no best gen in my driveway. The hoop on the bumper pushed it down and I don’t know how many tires left the ground, but 2 did for sure. It beat every skid and bent both lower control arms and the mounting pockets. Plus who knows what else underneath.

Talk to your agent and get the coverage. When I added up extras, I was above $22k in extras on top of the $33k truck when new. 28+10 got me $38k. Yep, I still took a bath but that extra policy saved the day even thought it still sucks. I would have had that truck til I died and it would have been one hell of a wheeler when she was upgraded to off-road only down the road.

Drive safe, and don’t hit any cows. 9161680A-893C-485A-8168-AFBBF36F1907.jpg

    That’s great info, thanks

since we are talking about insurance, make you read the find prints or ask your agent.
A few years ago I got a call in the early AM from my brother, he said they had rolled his car, his friend was driving and must of dosed off. Luckily they just hit the embankment and rolled the car onto the hood with no injuries. Long story short the insurance denied his claim for whatever reason. Something about since he was in the car he should of been driving. It was just the two of them coming home from a work trip. He was stuck paying off a loan on a rolled car. The Insurance company was just some cheap ass insurance also.
