I bought a case of Fluid Film. I do not have access to a lift. Before I crawl around on the deck, I wanted to see if anyone has done this treatment, if so, any advise or tricks you could pass on?
    Thanks!

No lift. Crawled right underneath and sprayed.

If you have a nice driveway, lay down some sort of drop cloth. It'll wash off in time, but will look like crap for a while. I just started spraying everything. Easy to tell what you haven't sprayed. Had issues in the front so car ramps could help. I also sprayed the tailgate hardware.

Start your truck and let it idle so any on the exhaust can burn off before you go driving.

Helps to wear some old cloths or a hazmat suit, cheap rain gear top, and bottoms work well to. This stuff can get pretty messy in warmer weather as you spray it on. It tends to drip everywhere.
I drove over a couple of old 8x12 canvas tarps i spread for crawling under my truck. Remove all 4 wheels and put the truck on jack stands. Pull both the front engine shield, and the rear spare tire. Your ready to start.

I like to warm the cans up in hot water to reduce the viscosity. Wear a tyvec suit and goggles. I usually park in the street with two wheels up on the curb rather than my driveway and spray everything that’s metal trying not to soak stuff that gets hot. 4-5 cans will do it.

Using the straw spray in between the sandwiched frame layers, inside the boxed sections and in the drains of all body panels. It isn't the rust we see that causes the most harm.

I did mine in late September. I have a gravel driveway. I just put down some cardboard. The box my tonneau cover came in was very useful for it. Wear old clothes you don't care much about too.

I did each end of the truck by putting it up on ramps for some more space to work. You will want some goggles and a paper mask. Also take the spare tire out so you can get the frame of the carrier. If you have the spray cans with the long tube 360° nozzle use it inside the rocker panels, the rubber plugs can be removed and put back. Make sure to get in all the boxed frame sections you can get too.
I even sprayed some in the bed sides via the drip holes, you could take out the taillights and attack it that way too. I even put a little bit in all the door bottoms via the drip holes too.

wear a mask, you dont want the vapors coating your lungs. for me, it is better to buy the pro kit with a gallon, and the sprayer, wands etc... than spending upwards of 10 per can on the spray bombs, to do the whole truck that way.

I usually spray approx 2-3 quarts on the truck body, and frame, then use 2-3 spray bomb cans and the small hose adapter that you buy on ebay (long thin hose with a multi-angle nozzle), to spray the bottom of the doors, tail gate, and hood.

make sure to pull the plugs in the rockers, and HOSE THAT CRAP IN THERE, and replace the plugs. that and the frame, bottoms of doors, and tail gate, are the most susceptible to rust, rot.

good luck, and good job on trying to protect your investment. so many people bitch about a 40k truck, then bitch louder for the cost of corrosion protection, then bitch even more, when their truck starts rusting, during, or after it's first winter. Ski

Fluid film is not supposed to hurt rubber and electrical connectors. I still tried to not directly spray those or the exhaust but it gets on it anyway.

I have done a lot of searching for which to use. I first thought rustoleum. Looked at film. But after spending 12 hrs researching I am going with
CRC 06026 Heavy Duty Corrosion Inhibitor which is used by the marine community for their protection spray. Of course your choice. CRC drys where the film stays sticky and recommends recoating every 6 months. I only want to crawl under with respirator, goggles and white painters suit. Please let us know your results

I parked on a set of ramps in my garage for my 4Runner but you could just do it flat on the ground too. I parked over top of a tarp.

I second keeping the can warm. I put it in front of my garage heater. Really helped in the fall weather.

Work in sections. Do as much as you can laying in one area. Be methodical so you don't miss anything. I took the wheels off when I was done the majority under the truck to get anything I may have missed. Don't get it on the rotors. Clean the rotors after even if you think you didn't.

    Old clothes, respirator and goggles/glasses.

It is. I used 11 cans of Fluid Film the first time I did it; because I did a complete saturation job of the frame and anything tied to it underneath. This year I think I only needed 4 cans of it to touch up. Took my wheels off, wrapped the rotors in trash bags. As someone remarked earlier, wear clothes you don't care about because you are going to throw them away.
