So we figured it out but I'm not sure it makes sense.

Water comes up through the pressure tank into the house and hits a T that goes left to the water heater and right to the softener.

If that's the case if you install a hot water circulator than the warmed water will recirculate up through the softener and back into the water heater. Does the softener circulate through the water heater normally? It doesn't appear so and appears to only go out through the cold water side and not intake into the water heater.

    :annoyed:

    This is so confusing.

If you have your own well you can see where the pipe comes through the wall ? It should go to a pressure tank first then your softener

Yep, that's how our last house was and we had it all in the same room together. Now we've got our pressure tank under the back deck and the softener and water heater in the house. The water heater will also need to be replaced soon and to top it off all the joints are soldiered and not threaded. Any sort of upgrade down the road will be a ton of work.

Not sure if you saw my response regarding the T from the intake. The tag didn't work initially.

All that looks like a good time

What's your favorite cut and way of cooking it?
