LOL. Toyota management celebrated today as they now hold the title of “longest running truck design” as Nissan bows out of competition.

A Toyota Corporate spokesperson was quoted as saying “no one can compete with the Tundra’s dated design and technology - we pride ourselves on delivering our customers the finest 2006 Trucks at 2021 prices.”

EDIT: The new Frontier looks great.

With those wheels it actually looks like a Tacoma off-road from the side profile.

I really like how it looks too.

I'm sad though, basic trucks are a dying breed... Where's the manual trannys, crank windows, and locking hubs going? So sad...

I was really looking forward to this truck. Other than the ridiculous headlamps it looks really good and I would chose that 3.8 over the 3.5 Toyota any day. But no manual trans? Come on Nissan! Guess I'll be keeping the 2gen until it dies or turns into a pile of rust...

I wish my Tacoma was an automatic! I had an 89 Nissan and it was a pretty good truck. The new frontier looks like a decent truck. I’m keeping my Tacoma until she dies though.

It looks like Nissan is upping their game even though it looks like a 3rd Gen Taco knock off. Smart, since they know Tacos dominate the mid-size market.

Just my personal opinion but I’ve always thought the Frontier’s were the ugliest trucks on the highway. They have no sleek lines. They are blah. They all look like a square box. Got to admit the new one is an improvement but they still ain’t ever going to occupy a space in my garage.

Gotta admit, I like it (based on available info and pics). I'd take mine as a Pro 4X, access cab long box.

With the obscene selling prices of used Tacos, paired with 0% (association discount) Nissan financing, I'll do some maths. Not sure it's will be enough to pull me away, but there's some solid value without the Toyota Tax.

I agree, low inventory of both used an new Tacomas are definitely driving up the price. Is Frontiers are substantially cheaper, it'll be interesting.

3.8L v6 with 310/285 paired with a 9-speed. It will be Revvy like the Tacoma but probably have better gearing and thus better hwy manners as a result.

Yet again Toyota’s competition outshines them in everything except the Logo.

High nose like a Gen 3, F150 tail lights and tail gate. Hope they offer a longer bed. All and all, not a bad looking truck. Depending on the price point, it could prove to be a viable option for some. I hope it sells well since a little competition would be a good thing.

    Cheers.

Agreed, strong sales would be wonderful for this market. If the price is good, I may consider it next time I need a truck...

Son just bought a 2020 frontiere, that new power train is pretty good. I like that 9 speed, hopefully Toyota does something like it.

Competition! Without it we would be stuck with 3rd gen Tacoma for the next decade.
