The maintenance schedule in the Toyota App for my truck shows first service/oil change at 5,000 Miles or 6 Months. 2nd is 10k / 12m.

Doing an oil analysis on the factory fill is laughable, sorry. Of course it's going to be "contaminated", the engine is brand new.

The only reason I'd get an analysis on a factory fill is to see the add pack of the oil from factory. I will say it has a nice dose of molybdenum and zinc...

Now if we refer to the countless other threads where they sent out the oil to a testing lab... those threads stated their oil was fine at the 10k mark

for years now on dual oil filter Diesel engines in fleets that are expected to go 1 million miles

b4 rebuild its been accepted by Cummins to go 30000+ miles b3 oil change

that has recently been Extended on an engine that presents far greater stress

+ wear tear that a typical gas auto engine

the old wives tail of ‘ 3000 ‘ mile change

was born DIRECTLY out of the FACT & REALITY

for a decade those post war engines were NOT equip with oil filters

( almost ALL motorcycle engines........many standard auto engines )

    clearances were large

oil was of a quality several factors worse than the “ SYNTH “ oil available today

If the engine had blown up on your watch, you would have been screwed. As is you got away with it.

I was going to change the oil in my wife’s brand new 4Runner at 1000 miles for just this reason but @SearArtist snd @jlemmond said I was wasting my time and not to change it until 10k!

Joking of course. I changed at 1k for just this reason. And will do it at 10k as usual moving forward. I’ve got a couple of Blackstone bottles, and still have the old oil, maybe I’ll send it off just out of curiosity.

most of the initial wear directly related to ‘ cranking ‘

the rings bed in resulting compounds in the oil

engines with cylinder coating such as NIKASIL even less wear

the crank contributing to wear at cranking

NOTHING should be touching rubbing in the engine under oil pressure

valves against the seats dont significantly end up n the oil

It’s called being a lazy fuck. The first two oil changes are free from Toyota.
