The whole appeal of it to me is how incredibly ridiculous it would be. I was going to build a plexiglass case that showed you the clear vinyl tubing in the back with all of the relays and solenoids doing their thing. If you just stuck a normal coffee maker in the facade that's just kinda lame.

So a basic coffee maker is a couple of super dumb mechanical controls and a hot plate. Water runs out of the reservoir into the hot plate, gets heated up, boils, pours onto the coffee grounds, and dribbles into the cup. Then the burner just heats till its dry, and once its dry it stays on to heat the carafe.

The theory with refitting your airplane coffee maker is you'd steal the burner from a regular cofee maker, replace the burner in the airplane coffee maker, and then rewire all the controls to work on a managable voltage (they're probably 28vdc already). So it looks like a airplane coffee maker, but the part that wants the funky power is just a regular old 120vac burner.

    Ah, I see.

I wish it didn't use such a bizarro hertz rating (hertage?) because then I could just run it off the wall. I have never heard of three phase 120vAC before, I thought that was a 220vAC+ thing.

Its gotta be an aerospace thing. I think @Abeyancer was on the right track with the component size thing. As frequency goes up, components get smaller. A 60Hz transformer is going to be way bigger and heavier than a 400Hz one of the same VA rating.

The interesting curiosity here is that if the burner (a big resistor) is the only thing running at 3 phase 120V 400Hz, it might well run on 120VAC from a wall, but probably at a lower power, so it might not get as hot.

    What's the difference in power delivery of 120vAC 3-phase and 120vAC 1-phase?

3x as much if I remember right, one of these other guys can correct me, I'm sure they do this every day. There are 3 conductors delivering power instead of 1.

I'm sitting over here force feeding log files into a linux box to see when it blows up

$250 for a day of hunting, usually call it quits around noon and start to head home.

I’ve only taken two people and I made both of them be ready to go by 1 am. Both times we’ve been caught and back to town by noon anyway.

$250 per day, no guarantee of catching anything, I provide food and water if they want to eat what I have.

They’ve been done good and been super nice too, probably shouldn’t post their pictures but they sent them to me so why not.

They seem to have more light/ detail, I’m telling myself that’s where the camera/lens quality and editing style come in

That top one is really good, definitely my favorite

other than it just being an interesting shot/perspective, that super shallow depth of field (blurry background/foreground) comes from using wide open aperture setting on a fast lens. Like F/2.8 - 1.4

Aight @BartMaster1234, in short its not possible to get that thing to run on 120v 60hz. Those machines pull a shitload of current, hence the 3 phase. You could try merging its internals over with a Mr. Coffee machine but my source just said "good luck."

He is curious as to how you got it.

That guy was funny, kept asking me if it was safe to be where the white dog is in my pictures as I’m leaning against the rock by the little snow patch to lions right.

I didn’t buy it yet, it’s for sale on eBay from a jet scrapper. I was doing some research before I actually got the thing to see if it was even possible.

They sell a bunch of things like fuselage cuts, cockpit control panels, seats, etc.
