I went for a scoot yesterday when it was 27 degrees. I had all my cold weather gear on and it was fun, but my extremities were hurting pretty bad after half an hour. It was still worth it.

    I can’t wait for spring.

It was dry and sunny... and a balmy 45 degrees here. I sucked it up and went for a nice little 30 minute scoot down to the Co-op in the next town down that has non-ethanol gas so I could fill up the tank. Got home just as it started raining on me.

It's not supposed to go above 40 again for at least a week and we will be down in the teens a few nights this week so I'm glad I got some seat time in while I could.

Rode over to Jim’s cycle in Axtell Saturday. Not so great in the mornin, 46 and drizzling. Cleared out by 11 and nice ride back. FM 3 is a nice ride with some good curves and Hot Rods Bar at near the half way point.

So I started this bar install, and learned that it’s some damn work! Notice I say started, cause I still have plenty to do! :ballchain:

First I learned that when your bike is on the jiffy stand and you remove the derby cover, oil drains out! :anonymous: Listen, I’ve never wrenched on a bike! So when I do finish this install, I’ll need to get some more primary oil first!

Secondly I learned that fishing wires thru bars is a pain in the ass!!!! Holy chit. Maybe cause I’ve never done it or whatever, but I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone.

As of now, I need to finish adding the wire extensions for signals and controls, actually install the bars, and complete the new brake line. :annoyed:

If I ever mention a bar swap again, I would hope y’all would steer me away! :D

I havent thought about my bike in weeks. I did finish one saddle bag support, and just need to work on the other side. Im going to try a different technique, and then whichever works better, I will replicate again. Homemade tube bender works ok. It kind of kinks the tube, but also its not a structural support, so Im not worried. No pics yet..

the "manual holder" is a great upgrade. just make sure you seal the breather hole w a little silicone.

I'm not sure if it's sold or not. I think and I may be wrong but the customer/buyer/representative has to be there for the uncrating or at least the removal of the bike from the base of the crate.

Drop bracket lift and booger welds
I put a piece of black electrical tape over it in case I ever needed to depressurize it.

24 degrees for my commute this morning. I'm only in a couple days this week, luckily, as I think its supposed to get down into the single digits overnight for the next few days.

The difference between city road maintenance and University road maintenance is astounding. City roads: great, de-iced, plowed, no issues. University roads: Not plowed, not de-iced, narrowest of non-icy tire paths, intersections are a shit show. Had my back end slide out on me at an uphill intersection, that was a pucker. Managed to not drop the bike though, so I guess it's a win and I should just call it sliding practice?

Other thing I realized this morning is how much drag the rekluse has when it's cold. I was in second to get up my driveway without breaking traction, went to pause at the top to close my garage door and the bike kept going forward. Front brake had no grip, both feet were down so I wasn't on the rear, and the cold oil drag on the rekluse just kept moving me forward. Whoops.

Oh the joys of sub freezing commuting :)

2 hours from my house to Ashburn. More if I bring my CB400F and take back roads. Less if I bring the FJR1300. It does look like a cool place for a meet up though.
