Blood sport is a great movie!

The bumper looks pretty good. Since I didn’t sand it down to the metal, you can still sorta see the chips. And it’s impossible to keep a clean wet edge of the spray paint around so many angles. But considering how scratched up the truck is.... good enough is good enough.

Went out with a few local TWers on a trail ride outside of Albuquerque and got a little flexy.

this seems like a great cheap mod but not looking forward to taking apart the most of the dash.

how is the charger/meter holding up? and the voltmeter is always displayed even when the truck is off?

So taking apart the dash isn’t terrible, but that piece of the dash is the last piece as I recall, meaning the whole dash is layered and that’s the bottom piece, so the whole dash comes apart to get to that.

It’s a great little charger, and the voltmeter is nice, and only works when the key is on and set to ACC or the truck is on. So no worry about parasitic battery drain with it.

But, would I do it again or recommend it? No. Because you can just plug one of these (or something similar) in your two DC plugs

After our last ABQ TW group run to the local off-roading area, I have been dying to get back. Spent that last two evenings mapping out side trips and offshoots from the group run on Google Earth and Gaia Topo.

I had today free so figured I’d go out again exploring. Did a little solo crawling trip. Reran all the obstacles we ran Saturday to get more practice off-roading and even tried some harder obstacles.

I am psyched to have such great wheeling area so close to town, with everything from easy deep sand and rolling hills to extreme buggy waterfall nonsense.

Getting a feel for getting up and down bigger steps like this. 15” on the right side give or take.

Even got to use my maxtrax for the first time. Turns out they aren’t just for overlanding style points. They actually do work.

Tried to get up this bank, and got hung up on my skids. Backed down and tried to go down it instead. Got stuck on the way down. Oops.

With greater power comes greater responsibility...

(or with proper off-roading and my tire and wheel combination means more damn work)

I’ve taken my truck out the last few days to an OHV area near the house and found rubbing. It’s not the the slow armor banging rock crawling that it rubs exactly. It’s the fucking endless 2’ sandy whoops on the way to and from the crawling spots. I suppose I could drive 3mph but fuck.

I’m on 295/75r16s with 3.5”BS wheels. I already pulled the flares and trimmed the fenders. Have an aggressive CMC. Flattened pinch weld etc.

    (Mud for dramatic effect!)

I’m rubbing the firewall just in from the pinch weld, above the tire on the wheel well and up front towards the bumper up high.

Looks like it’s time for the BFH.

From what I’ve seen 35’s with this offset will require cutting and welding not just hammering.

this pic is from eatssleepstacos on here. What he did to clear his 35s...

not opposed to doing this but im hoping i wont have to. my plan is to use my SPC UCA's to move the tire forward about an inch using its caster adjustments.

but then gotta worry about my C4 plate bumper but thats what grinders are for, eh

    Damn she flexy!

(And this is before the rear shock relocate)

Wife wanted to get out of the house before the snow tomorrow, so we went out to the local OHV area.Let her drive for some of it. She’s so comfortable being the passenger, thought it would be good to let her feel the steep drop ins where you can’t see the road. And the off camber turns and some good medium sized steps. She did great. And had fun.

Spent the afternoon working on the truck. Oil change, air filter, tire rotation...

Plus since my last wheeling trip showed that my 295s on 3.5”BS wheels rubbed the firewall and inner fender...

I brought out the BFH, bashed the firewall more, and the inner fender, then reapplied some rubberized undercoating on the firewall and primer/paint on the inner fender.

Plus pulled my sagging shitty Allpro expo leaf springs and put on my new Deaver u402 stage III’s.

Where did you get that rubber edge liner for your fenders? Does it have adhesive to stay put?

Wife and I did a quick weekend kayaking trip to Warm Springs Bay on the Utah/Arizona border in Lake Powell.

We had the whole bay to ourselves most of the time. No other campers. A few UTVs and jeepers passed by and a few boats hung out in the bay fishing for a bit. Neat little spot, super quiet this time of year.

Our camping game is getting better and better. Awning worked out great. We love the fridge. It ran for two days straight no issue on my group 27 AGM battery. The outdoor mat she bought for my birthday worked great in the sand.

    Fun extremely lazy weekend.

Looks like great fun, Dustin! What kind of highway mileage did you get on stock gears and 295’s?

12 give or take :notsure:, but honestly I don’t track it ever. Loaded for this trip with the kayaks it was probably worse.

But don’t forget my daily driving weight is about 1400lbs over stock with the armor and shit I carry every day. Plus I lose any aerodynamic points with the high front bumper, the lift and the roof rack/shovel/maxtrax etc.
