I definitely agree with you on that!

    That's a cool idea..

If you gently massage those pry marks with the convex curve of a spoon and the spoons edge the marks will eventually completely disappear.

Thank you! I’ve been trying to figure out how to fix it. Sucks that I could avoid these by just taking the whole center console apart, but I’m lazy/impatient.

Went and picked up a new-to-me Snugtop shell for the truck. Will get some better pics later. Super stoked to have a cap on the truck again.

Thats my dilemma.. I'm not paying $40 for that plug, so I can get it in 3-4 days. I also don't want to wait weeks for this one. But i am saving $25 over what you paid

I have actually been looking at those exact ones, thought they looked familiar. I have heard good things about them even though they are cheap.

I did the same thing. Was like screw the aob markup for a 2” piece of plastic with a cheap Ethernet port, purchased off eBay I think $10 and it arrived in a week from China even though it said 2-3 wks.

It is a piece of junk though lol. It’s a 2 piece design and the sheath over the Ethernet wires on the inner side of the switch doesn’t stay clipped in place. Doesn’t really affect anything with the actual jack though, and fits the blank great.

    Oh?

I have this already, and was going to dremel out a space to fit it in a blank. Thanks for the heads up!

You're welcome. Get the lines straight first and then smooth the surface. Unfortunately you'll need patience (lol).

You can avoid pry marks and taking the dash apart by drilling the hole in the dummy plug first and then using a 90* pick tool inserted into the hole that you drilled to pull the dummy plug out. Some dummy plugs will have electrical plugs attached to the back so you'll want to use a deep socket or similar to limit how deep the drill bit goes into the dummy plug when drilling it.

For plastics that have an embossed texture and the texture has been damaged in a small area the texture can be somewhat reformed by putting a similar textured plastic on top of the damaged texture (texture to texture) and lightly tapping it with a ball peen hammer. This process will flatten out the texture you're trying to duplicate so it will need to be moved around to get the full benefit of it.

I 3D printed this standard keystone jack mount off a thingaverse file and mounted a passthrough keystone jack in it. I needed a RJ-12 for my FTM400 ham radio.

Thingaverse print file here - Printed an ABS and then Acetone vapor smoothed to reduce the print texture. It looks way worse texture in this picture then reality.
    https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4445314

Keystone jack here **Note** - This is an RJ12 jack it's much narrower then and RJ45 jack. You need a 6P6C jack for the mic on most Yaesu radios. (This jack is a 8P8C but the same width as a RJ11/RJ12 jack and works great) Looks like that Midland can use a MUCH MUCH cheaper RJ45 passthrough jack. RJ-12 jacks like this are somewhat rare

Here is a link to an RJ45 keystone passthrough jack if you need that type instead.

This is similar to something I did about a year ago. Anytime the seats were folded down, anything stored behind them would be exposed and fall out when braking. Also not good when you have a dog back there with the seat down.

I covered my seats with Clazzio a few years ago and never liked the fact that the hard rear seat backs were covered. So I removed the hard seat back and moved it outside the seat cover. Required a couple slits in the clazzios but then I was able to just attach it over the seat cover. Also did not like that my tools and storage items behind the seats were exposed when the seats were down. Items would fall out of the storage area when braking. So I made some secondary hatches to keep closed when the seats were folded down. Still need to cover them with black bunk board carpet. Tried just using stick on velcro to keep them closed. Velcro was stronger than the sticky side so that didn't work. Switched to magnets.

SimplehHatches made from 1/4" MDF board:

Two bolts under plastic caps to remove seat back:

Cover reinstalled after removing hard back. Slits cut to attach backing.

This is what the back side of the seat back looks like and why I needed to cut the slits in the cover:

Working on it in my living room:

Reinstalling (just poked a hole in the seat cover where the bolt needed to go through):

Driver side seat back done vs before pic of the passenger side:

    Storage hatch door open:

Bunk carpet installed on hatch doors:

Magnets from home depot did not work because the magnetic disc had to be glued to the hatch and the hot melt glue did not hold. Magnets stronger than glue. So I ordered magnetic discs with a hold in the middle so they can be screwed to the hatch door. That worked much better.
