I have USAA as well and they’ve always been good to me.

I think the triple lesson here for everyone is buy a dash cam immediately. It just went on my list.

You have to imagine this from the point of view of people who weren’t there and didn’t see what happened. The aftermath provides no proof of what color the lights were without witnesses and the dash cam.

WOW. Rotten. Accidents happen, but own up. I just went through this last fall with some guy in a parking lot who dented my wife's door..saw the whole thing and he still tried denying, then shrugged and said "what do you think I'm gonna do about it?"

Re the tow, wise idea always. Twice my friend had a ton of stuff stolen from a tow yard. What did they steal?

Definitely list off every mod you've done, you'll need to justify the costs regardless of which insurance ends up paying.

    Feel better man.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

I used the truck as my overlanding rig and had a camper setup built in the back. So had tons of stuff. All sunglasses, tools, stove, gransfors axe, knives, rtic cooler, camping gear, etc, etc. Meticulously searched and picked clean. Whatever, just stuff, at least I got my guns and fly fishing gear out.

The truck got transferred between 2 tow yards to this giant lot of destroyed vehicles where it sits now. Kind of a weird experience, never been through something like this before.

Edit - Regarding the parts offers: The shell is completely destroyed as is essentially every other part of the vehicle, and of course any upgrades you pick off your truck you can't claim on insurance. But thanks for the offers anyways.

I would absolutely report the stolen items to the police, as well as to your insurance company. Yes just stuff but still it's your stuff.

Dude- glad you are ok! That was a crazy hit. Beautiful truck. I know she was your baby. But she gave hers to save yours.

There is another one out there for you!

I wouldn’t quote that on a public forum at this point, as you might find yourself with a personal injury claim. Also, your personal injury claim might have a lot to do with what her insurance company is willing to give you for your truck. Glad you survived it.

Depends on what camera you have and what it can support. If you take a look around the sides of your existing camera, are there any open ports, like a mini-usb port? If so, you might be able to add one on. Best bet is to check the manual if you still have it, and see what it can do.

Kinda crazy how much damage it received. The door overlaps the body by about 3 inches now, broken in half on top, huge crack that runs the entire length of the shell. The fiberglass is damaged at all 6 points where it anchored to the bed and almost completely detached from the truck.

I'm guessing the offending vehicle spun around and came back for seconds.

Wow, I checked out the video and even though I knew there was going to be a crash, I still kind of jumped when it happened. OP, hoping for a speedy recovery!
