    I'll weigh in on the bench mark grinding/polishing discs shown below. They are crap compared to the Walter brand. I bought 10. They are going in the trash.

    Just the polishing flap wheels? Or the sanding flap wheels too?

    The flap wheels. I'm sure they are fine for occasional use. I give them 1 star.

    Holy smokes those are expensive. $55 for a pack of ten 40 grit vs $25 for a pack of ten benchmark abrasives 40 grit.

    I've used the BA a bunch and they're awesome. I have a hard time believing the walter are worth more than double the price but as long as you like them, that's what matters.

    Are you looking at the quick change version? The quick change ones screw onto the arbor shaft. Those are much more expensive.

    Stumbled upon Bakers Gas offering $25 off first $100 order if signing up for their emails, so I finally pulled the trigger on an upgrade.

    Buy once, cry once.

    I hope. :cool::D

    I wanted to say the same thing, but figured I’d keep my mouth shut. Expensive flap wheels are the same price as cheap ones because they generally last much longer. I used to buy bulk flap wheels from the companies that supply shops. I’d go thru 100+ a year. Last year I switch to premium flap wheels from Norton and the like. I used less than a dozen all year and grinded more than I ever have.

    Also a big issue with cheap flap wheels is the edges round real fast making them a lot less effective. But I will also say I think I’m more demanding on my flap wheels and have higher expectations of the finished product I’m trying to achieve than what most guys in this thread are really shooting for, but I can tell you that all the fabricators I talk with that are at the levels I’m trying to reach, they aren’t messing with economy flap wheels. Theirs a reason. If you’re moving to benchmark from harbor freight then I’m sure you’ll be very satisfied. If you’re buying professional products you’ll find that benchmarks don’t last and are horribly out of balance.

    FWIW mobtown off-road is who turned me onto benchmark abrasives. They use all their products and have a high volume of armor they put out. I guess it’s all a matter of opinion, which everyone has.

    great perspective. Not everyone especially the home gamer is looking for the ultimate finish and longest lasting disc, for something that is going to be used only on the 2nd Saturday every 3rd month
