The rear harness I just unplugged and tucked aside because I already had my wire pulled but I picked up the harness for it anyway. 1FFBC57B-2635-4A94-A80D-B9710DB01A89.jpg

Thanks, i was debating on running new speaker wire or not. I have been reading up on the Alpine amp that goes behind their radio which would tie into the factory speaker wires. This is helpful, i guess once i decide on my head unit, then i'll start listening to some components for the front.

What speakers and amp did you go with?

I put hertz ck 165s in the front and I’m just getting the rear out back together this morning they have hertz mpx 165.3 in them. Keep an eye on Crutchfield they are always having sales and sometimes you can get a pretty good price. The amplifier is a kenwood 5 channel marine amp. It’s 50 watts rms to each door and 300 to the sub so nothing to crazy on power but it sounds ok. It’s taking awhile to put together because I get one part at a time then pay it off and get the next thing I need. Plan ahead if you can so you don’t have to buy anything twice. A bag of extra plastic clips is a good thing to have before you take off your door panels I found that out the first time I took one off. I just got some cheap ones off Amazon I think they were 6 bucks. A003715B-88A8-4324-A7CE-EC61F9F8E47F.jpg

Sounds good, thats my plan is to do the headunit first, install it and let it run the OEM speakers for a while until i decide what components to go with. Rears shouldnt take much thought since some coax should be fine. Change them out and then decide on an amp. I think i will be adding an 8" sub in the back. I purchased an OEM passenger rear panel with a JBL sub. i think i can make that enclosure work for a shallow mount sub giving and OEM look behind the seat if its ever folded down.

You might want to consider going with a little bit bigger sub if you can. I went with the shallow box JL 8 inch and even with only 50 watts at the doors the mids are overpowering the lows. I’m in an access cab so I wanted to save as much space as I could but I think even a 10 would be a lot more balanced

Id prefer a 10 but not wanting to remove the storage panels or do any cutting is why i chose to try the 8" option. Im hoping if i can get enough mid bass from the 6x9's up front. the sub will give me a little bottom end to fill in those missing frequencies. Im not looking for a loud hard hit but just a little extra. Its all trial an error, lol. Once i decide on speakers and get them amped, i may be fine with that, idk.

I bet the 6x9s are going to sound good up front. I wish I would have looked into that a bit more. I guess it’s all subjective anyway so the 8 might deliver exactly what you want. It sounds good it’s just s lacking a little bit of thump but again with your set up it might be perfect.

It’s a kenwood 907s. It’s a great hu but I have seen other brands that do everything this one does for a bit less. Alpine makes some really nice stuff if you go that way. As soon as you do you’ll be dragged down the rabbit hole with the rest of us poor chumps lol.

I’ve never listened to any of those but the specs look good. Your definitely going to want an amp for those. 75 watts per channel would push them pretty good but that will make your mids and highs fairly loud so it’s going to need a good amount of bass to balance it. What kind of stuff do you like to listen to?

I remember those back in the late 90's early 2000's when i was involved with car audio more. I mainly listen to R&B, Hip Hop or Top Playlist. I may check out a local shop here to see what i can listen to in person and check out my former shop when i go back to VA to see what they have now. Im pretty sure i can get a better deal there but definitely not the 50% off when I was an employee in High School. Those good days are gone.

i looked at an add on here for some Hertz speakers and reached out to the guy. He has some 6.5 components for sale and 6.5 coax for the rears. They are the ESK & ECK Energy series

I really like them so far if it’s a good deal I say go for it. Sounds like your a little partial to Alpine to. Have you considered just building your whole system with there stuff?

I like alpine headunits but was never a fan of their amps or speakers. May have changed over the years but thats something i would have to research. Someone may have already beat me to the components and rears though. Hopefully I'll get this figured out in time. Once i decide on a HU, the rest shouldnt be too hard to comb though.
