Hey all! I am new to the forum. Hailing from the Great White North! I am shopping a new (or new to me) Tacoma and thought I'd hop on the thread and see what everyone had to say. My question to the group is do you think it is better to build it or buy it? I love this 2018 with all the added goodies on it but I am also open to building something myself. If anyone has any input either way I'd love to hear it!

    I'm down in Texas.

I went with a new 4x4 Off-Road. Once or twice a year that locker comes in very handy! I *think* the sport doesn't have a locker.

If that has everything you want, and the price is better than buying a 2018 and adding those goodies, it's worthwhile.

New 2021 has a "Baja step" rocker guard. Common in Texas, but my first thought was those steps will hang on a rock. $695 option, but I'll be lucky to sell them for $300. That is the only aftermarket item on the truck, and everything else was good (technology package, as with a camper shell I like the cross-traffic alert).

Ouch that "151,449 km" is high for even a 2018. Most likely a ton of highway miles, but make sure to look at all service records. I don't have a clue what Canadian Prices are, but that is what I paid for my 2021 Off-Road.

I kept thinking "Oh I can find a clean low milage Taco for $20,000". Uh, six months later. Nope. I didn't want a 2000 (still a fine truck, but I'm getting old so my days of wrenching are limited to warmer days).
