What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I guess it doesn't count for today, but I did install a pedal commander and re-installed my SSPv2. Seemed like the right thing to do. Anyone doing tunes in the Hampton Roads area?

 

Nice! I'm really happy with these Spotter mirrors too, and yea those connectors on the factory mirrors for the heater's were on there TIGHT! I used the same method you did to get them off. I like how the Spotter's have the heat symbol etched on to the face of the mirrors. Would be cool if they lit up when the heated mirrors are in use, but still a nice touch that the OEM mirrors don't have.

 

Back in like, 2012, a buddy of mine's, kid drove up one day when I was at their place. He had a nice 2010 standard cab long bed Tacoma. He was in High School (the son) at the time. Lets just say, the kid could take care of himself. He had some altercations with some wrestlers from another district, at a local match, and cleaned the districts, top wrestlers clocks, on the mat. When my buddies kid went to his truck to leave the wrestling match, his trucks paint and plastic was destroyed. Bubbled BAD. It got doused with ACID. Long story shortened, his insurance coverage didn't touch all the repairs and paint job.

End of story-- he had the paint, substituted for Red Rhino Liner, then a Rhino Liner Clear over top. It looked mint. It was hard to make a mark in it. All said and done, at about an 1/8" thick. LOL.
It always made me wonder, how much more weight it added to the rebuilt truck.

 

Had to modify my Rough Country bed molle panel to fit with my bed lights. Hopefully this helps some folks.

 

It may depend on the dealership. Brought mine in for 5k service. The taillights get moisture in them when I wash it and it makes a weird noise when I let off the accelerator once the truck it warmed up. The dealers response was that the tail lights are no longer under warranty because I put in aftermarket reverse bulbs and that they could not reproduce the noise. My response was: "Replacing a bulb voids the warranty?". The rep responded " yes, when it's not OEM". I drove the truck home and the it made the screechy noise they were not able to reproduce every time I let off the accelerator. So it sounds like the dealers have some leeway in justifying warranty. This specific dealer/service rep did seem to have interest in doing the right thing.

If anyone knows what causes a high pitch noise when the truck is warmed up, driven over 30 and the accelerator is slowly released- please let me know.

 

That's the shittiest dealer I have ever heard of. I would escalate that claim, and they have to prove a bulb voided the warranty.

 

Wow, my dealership put the 4Runner Pro wheels, with larger tires, on it for me and even swapped the TPMS in each wheel. They even bought my TRD Sport wheels and tires from me at face value.

 

Belts, rear end, A/C compressor, composite bed...any of these could be the problem.

 

First going to swap out the aftermarket for the OEM to take away the excuse and try again the next service. When that doesn't work I'll escalate it. Not a rush to fix just unimpressed with the excuses.

 

Different noise from belts. Sounds like its under the cab. Not really loud but in the area of the driveshaft.

 

Where fid you get the mirrors from?

 

Myself, I would buy the "stick-on" type, for better field of the spot area.

My buddy likes the midland CB because it can be dual purpose, hard wired in the truck, or battery for handheld use. The antenna can also be the standard magnetic type, or the flexible portable type. We haven't tested out the range yet, but I'm sure it depends on the antenna setup Honestly, most use the GMRS frequency because of the ease of use and the abundance of handhelds.

though I took a fair amount of care and did my research it’s possible I got a part wrong (especially the side emblem cover ups and USB power) so please do your own research to find the correct parts for your vehicle

I tried to buy most stuff from Amazon for the easy returns and recommend it, especially if you are a prime member.

I am glad I got the SR because it’s like a clean slate I can make mine with upgrades. Plus I got an awesome price too.
