    Hello all,
Long time lurker, first time poster.
Tomorrow I will be installing... https://tinyurl.com/1ed7hxcs . A while back I read a thread (or post) explaining how to wire the LED light bar to be on when truck is running (lights off). I've been searching for hrs and I cannot find it...help!

Use an add-a-fuse and tap into one of the fuses in the driver side cabin fuse panel. Most, if not all. of those fuse locations would work for what you want. You can tap into the windshield washer fuse if you're worried about other areas of the truck. Without a switch in the circuit, it will be powered any time the truck is on.

Cool. I've never used and add-a-fuse. I took a look here... https://tinyurl.com/16pv4v9p . What wire do I run to the empty fuse location?

You'll want to run the power wire (I assume it will be red) for the LEDs through the grommet in the engine bay that leads under the driver's side dash, then splice it to the add-a-fuse wire.

To add, you're not plugging into an empty fuse--you're replacing an existing fuse with the add-a-fuse, and both fuses draw power from the same location.

Do you have an access cab or double cab?

I added a rocker switch to run the led. That way I have control when to have it on. I tapped to the ACC fuse located in the cab fuse block, to rocker switch, then to led. In your case, tap a wire to the ACC fuse straight to the LED positive wire. Then simply ground the LED ground wire to frame.

Then you have 2 very good places to source key switched power. The left rear and right rear power window fuses in the under dash fuse box. They are powered off the power window relay, but not used in an access cab.

Thanks for all the info. Unused p/w fuse location...great suggestion. So it look's like for this application I would use only one fuse with the add-a-fuse. The small red connector on left w/ one green and one blk wire is the parking lights (light bar). So I run one wire (hot) back to the fuse panel? And ground the neutral somewhere? It would be great if I could find the "how-to" for this.

With an Add-a-Fuse, you always use two fuses. One is the fuse that comes out of the slot / location that you plug the Add-a-Fuse into. The other fuse is the one for the circuit you are adding.

Yes, except that in an access cab, the rear PW fuses don't go to anything, so you really don't need a 2nd fuse in that location.

True, but if I do as Muddinfun has suggested and use an unoccupied spot (rear power window access cab) only one fuse is used.

Oops, I wasn't clear. I meant two fuses in the Add-a-Fuse. My bad.

Circuit energizes at unlock, then off when door is opened. Back on when vehicle is ON. Circuit stays on for 45 seconds after vehicle off, if no doors are opened.

Done! Light bars burn full time. Took some time tho. I ran the hot wires in 1/4 split loom and routed them nice a tidy along fenders and firewall and used shrink tube on all connections. Thanks to muddinfun for the great fuse panel location suggestion.

On my '08 TRD the #2 position is the hot side so the add a fuse wire points down.
