Just noticed an email come through. Someone with unlimited funds should do a test for us! :D looks like the new KC light may be taking place at the top. 20210212_144342.jpg 20210212_144312.jpg

To be fair, testing the ss3 max combo beam would be a better comparison as the KC are not SAE rated and you would be comparing more similar light patterns. Screenshot_20210212-150251_DuckDuckGo.jpg

You need to look at the details, not just raw lumens.

The Max has higher intensity values by spec than the new Flex 4. Look at candela specs (measured output intensity) in Spot for both the Max and Flex 4. The Flex 4 is 180,000 Cd, the Max is 261,000 Cd. The Flex uses open bucket forward facing emitter optics, just like Baja. Their Spot optic will have much more light spill than the Max spot. The Maxes TIR optics are far more advanced and efficient, which helps it achieve higher candela numbers as the light has better focus. But it won’t have the light spill like the Flex. There are times when light spill is beneficial off road, but it does reduce lamp efficiency in peak candela, which translates directly to projection distance.
