Hi, glad to be on here and I am sorry if this has been addressed already, I have looked but have had no luck.

I am trying to rig my 2021 Tacoma trd off-road. looking to lift it using only Bilstein 5100 kit, and change my rim from a 16" to a 17" FUEL shok (17x9) with 285/70/17 AT tire. I was wondering if you could help me on what the best offset would, options are -12, 01, 20.
    Thanks,

** edit ** asking in order to prevent rubbing

You tried looking and couldn’t find any info on lifts or wheels? That’s crazy. I could have swore 75 percent of this site talks about nothing but those topics :D.

Serious though, 5100s are a great option. Tons of members run them including myself. Wheels those are a personal preference as far as offset. Some like the extreme poke and others don’t. Also have to remember if you run bigger tires with more aggressive offset, you’ll run into rubbing issues. Best of luck OP.

-12 is good. Im running 265/75/16 with a 16x8 wheel with -12 offset, no lift/level and it pokes out about 1-1.5 inches with no rubbing. you might have to get a cab mount chop if you go with a 285.

lol, I could not find the exact thoughts in my head, found a whole lot of info about tire size but not much about the (tire and rim combo) w/ offset.

    Welcome to TW :hattip:

Do you know what setting you will be putting the 5100’s on? I would go with an offset of either 1 or -12, helps clear the tires from rubbing on the upper control arms. Especially since you want to run 33” tires. You will most likely need a cab mount chop. 5100s can get you a 2” lift at the max setting but they only recommend it for 4x4 V6 double cab long bed models. I’m sure you will need to set at the max setting for the 33s to “fit” but you will have some rubbing.

Just to give you an idea, I’m running 17x9 -12 wheels with a 32” tire and I was rubbing on some plastic but I trimmed and I no longer rub. I’m also running 5100s front and rear but on 4th setting which is 1.55” of lift and I’m also running a 1” block in the rear.

There is tons of information on this topic within this forum already, especially for 285/70R17 and bilstein 5100s

Here’s what mine looks like but keep in mind, I’m only running 32” tires

Edit: I also recommend you grab a set of wheels that have a 4.5” backspacing for more clearance
