I have 165/65-17 tires (Grabbers), a high-clearance rear bumper (not yet installed), and looking into a high-clearance front bumper w/winch and a real skid plate.

I'm thinking of getting one of the 3"/2" kits above (why the cost difference, they look like they have same parts?) for more offroad clearance and have been reading anything I can find on lifting a truck since I don't know much about the subject. Apparently the 3rd Gens get level by lifting the front by one inch?

Hoping others can chime in and give me some idea of things that could go wrong specifically because of the lift. I would have a local shop do the labor. I've read some horror stories but don't quite understand the issues. Things such as:
    • needing new upper control arms(?)
    • the difference between spacers inside the coils vs. on top
    • what the deal is with potentially needing a differential relocation(?)
I know to get a full alignment afterwards, but read that sometimes they can't adjust it "all the way" for some reason? Plus someone wrote that it "drives differently" afterwards and I need to be more careful cornering? At any rate, any knowledge you can impart is gratefully appreciated!

From my research on lift kits you need to be aware of everything before you spend a dime. I’m still doing research after one year have yet to buy a part related to lifting my truck. My stock parts are working great so no rush on my part yet.

Don't do a spacer lift. Going to need proper springs with all that weight and upcs etc. Why would you put a 100 dollar lift on a 35k truck.

Lurking on all kinds of these threads looking for the right lift. Toytec Boss 2.5, OEM, there are a lot of choices and an ocean of information that I am slowly processing. Looking for the pavement princess and off road middle ground.
