3rd gen shocks on 2nd gen vibrations

    I've read about 1 person that because of the additional rise of 3rd gen shocks he developed the front vibration which required the bushing to be installed. How common is that?

    Not a problem on my truck. Where do you feel the vibration, steering wheel, floor board or in the seat? And is the vibration during 0 to 20 mph with normal acceleration or constant after reaching a cruising speed?

    Thanks for reply. I'm looking at 2019 takeoffs for my 07. I'd read about one tw member who had to do bushing for vibration. I don't want that issue to happen to me. I wish the 3rd gen shocks didn't raise the truck that extra 1 inch as I'm happy with stock height. I was wondering what percent develop the vibration before I pull the trigger on these shocks.tia

    IMO this is not something you should worry about AT ALL. There should be no problem that is caused by the suspension swap. It may make another, already existing, underlying, problem more evident but it's not going to cause any issues. If you end up with any issue due to a bad bushing the bushing was bad before you swapped suspension and should be replaced regardless.

    I have 3rd gen TRD OR suspension on my truck and didn't notice any issues. Just got a little extra lift (which was very welcome) and they were cheaper than new shocks - win win. Many, many, many of us have done the swap without issue. I wouldn't let one person's bad experience deter you. Before I did the swap I did a lot of research and your post is the first time I've ever heard of anyone having any issue like this which was correlated with installation of 3rd gen take offs (note: I purposely said "correlated" not "caused"). In my 20+ yr experience working on vehicles I've learned it's common for issues to pop up when modding or even just doing regular maintenance and replacing with stock parts. Sometimes shit happens and it doesn't mean you shouldn't use those parts or those parts caused it.

    Thanks colin, I think I'll roll the dice and try them. I lost my business to covid and every money decision makes me nervous anymore. Cant even move my truck right now ice storm in Philadelphia it's a skating rink out there wish I lived in calif. Thanks again

    In general it seems the more lift you add the more likely you are to have vibrations.
    It’s a risk you take when lifting. I really don’t think you’ll have a problem.

    How much are you spending on the 3rd Gen coil assemblies?
    And are you doing the work yourself?
    If you can install the coil assemblies yourself, you should be able to the bushing yourself.
    “If” you have to.

    If you are really worried about it. And you really don’t care for the added lift.
    You might consider how much it would cost for a set of 4600. They are better than OEM and retain factory height. You would just need to sit down and see what one is more cost effective to you.
    COVID sucks......It has hit almost every one I know pretty hard in there pockets.

    3rd gen suspension doesn't even get you as much lift as a STOCK 2nd gen Baja/Pro (it's about half as much lift). So, in no way should it be enough lift to cause any issues arising from lifting the truck.
