Yup, that sounds about right. When my father owned his store, he had the R2D2 cooler as well, but when my brother asked if he could bring it home, it didn't work out to well (we accidentally pushed R2 down the stairs, and broke it!).

    Hello Everyone,

I was recommended by a forum user (vssman) to post over on this thread and say hello to everyone. I'm new to the Tacoma World forum and look forward to chatting with everyone. I purchased a leftover 2019 Tacoma pro last fall (Portsmouth NH Toyota) and have thoroughly enjoyed my time thus far with the Tacoma (lots of fun). In preparation for some yard work this spring, and equipment transportation needs, I purchased a Cam Superline dump trailer (with built-in pull-out ramps!). Specifically, I was thinking about mulch (5 yds per load), moving the zero-turn mower (~1200lbs), yard debris, small loads of dirt (2 yds. per load) and finally a Kubota LC2610 (~2300lbs with loader).

The trailer is a P5CAM612LPD (not the HD version). Weight is ~2800lbs. I needed the 12’ trailer to have enough room for the Kubota LX2610 and loader. The 10’ P5CAM10LDP (~200lbs lighter – 10’ trailer) was just too short for the Kubota. I don’t plan to travel on highways often with most of my weekend endeavors being to landscaping supply places, MB Tractor in Plaistow NH and the dump (yard debris, etc.).

    Notes:
The trailer dealer was recommending Timbrens to replace the OEM suspension stops.
    1. Question: Is this a good idea. Or will the trailer be a problem for the tuck based on the intended usage?
    2. Break controller being added this week at the dealer. The trailer has electric breaks. I transported the trailer home Friday without breaks and no issues.
    3. Do you see the P5CAM612LPD as a problem for my Tacoma pro?
I know many on this forum have a lot of experience with Tacoma trucks and heavy trailer loads. I find a mix of Tacoma tow capacities online listing 6400lbs, 6600lbs and 6800lbs. Based on my expected usage, the largest trailer load is ~5200lbs. Please let me know the forums thoughts. This is my first trailer and hope that I made a good choice based on my expected usage. If this setup is a bad idea please let me know when you have a moment.

    Thanks

Is the 5200lbs combined weight of the trailer and tractor you plan to haul?

You should be fine, I towed 6500lbs cross country. The two things I would do would be to invest in a weight distribution hitch and make sure you can load the tractor in a spot to not overload the max tongue weight.

if you are moving the tractor every weekend I’d recommend a bigger truck. If you’re just doing the tractor every so often then you’ll be fine especially if it’s just around town like you said.

the only thing to watch out for is the legal max your truck can tow. You’re good getting the brake controller in NH I think it’s over 3k lbs needs a controller. Might be 4. You typically won’t get pulled over JUST for that but if it gets tacked in it isn’t a small fine. But if your door panel says 6800 and you’re at 6950 that’s over weight. Even though realistically you’re fine. Also know the speed limits I think in NH when towing on the highway your limit is 55 it’s been a while. Again, very seldom enforced as an individual violation.

mulch is all fluff no stuff. It’s weird - but a full bed of mulch isn’t that much weight so you’ll be fine there.

Tractor - Load it backwards or with the blade off and facing backwards. Don’t think that’s a legal or osha requirement or anything like that but something I’ve learned over the years.

long of the short you’ll probably be near the max ratings of the truck, but if it’s only every so often, :notsure: better to max a Tacoma a few days a year than get a super duty and deal with the overkill the rest of the year.

if the trailer side panels come off, you would have a flat bed and save a few hundred pounds when you’re moving the tractors around.

5k regularly sounds like a perfect job for a Ford 2.7 :stirthepot:

CB update. Have swr meter jumper. Got delivered today.

unfortunately I’m in a city area and there’s really nowhere to tune close by. I have a place about 30 minutes south on the bay I can go, though.

so! Wednesday or whatever when I get the tail light antenna bracket in, I’ll set that up and take it down for tuning. And then this summer I’ll probably rip it all out and run the cable up the center console instead and wire it direct to battery instead of through the trailer brake harness.

I know I was thinking about an MT fiesta or anything really just to tool around town in this year but now I keep seeing a bunch of willys on Facebook and I’m thinking that would be a lot of fun just to drive around town.

just rocking up to work on this freakin thing.

I am far from brand loyal and my next truck may very well be a frontier or f150. I only say that to give contest for this comment:

today. This day the 14th of February 2021 I have seen my first gladiator with a cap. And lord - in all respect...
