Newbie Wheel Question

    i have had a few trucks over the years and always left everything stock, and this is my first Toyota. I currently own a black 17 TRD Off-road with stock wheels and tires. I’ve found some conflicting information online about the size of my stock wheels.

    I’m really thinking about upgrading to the gloss black TRD Pro wheels and am looking at these on EBay. My question is will my stock tires fit on these wheels or will I need to buy new tires?

    Off roads have a 16” wheel
    Sports have a 17” wheel.

    That’s where a lot of the confusion comes from.

    From what I understand, OR's and Pro's have the same exact tire as it is.

    Correct, Tacoma OR's & Pro's run the same size tire. Some confusion also comes from people saying they have Pro wheels but from the 4 runner which are 17's.

    Buy them online from your local Toyota dealer and choose Will Call (free shipping) wait two days and go pick them up.

    They will fit. They will probably poke out a little more than the stock sport wheel, close to flush with the fender flare, and will need a new tire obviously. The reduced offset will make the clearance to the wheel well less at full lock, but a stock off-road/pro size tire should be no problem.

    Well, in searching for the wheels online and putting in my vehicle as a 2021, the websites (such as BAM Wholesale or even Toyota) indicate that this wheel will not fit. Which leads me to wonder why these same websites would say the wheel fits 2017 through 2019 but not 2016, 2020 or 2021 Tacomas. What would have changed within those years that would make the wheel fit only certain years of the 3rd gen? Or maybe the question to ask is what is different between the TRD OR/Pro and Sport that would make the fitment different? I'm going to guess suspension but I could be wrong.

    I think the problem is that these places haven’t updated to add the 2021 to the parts descriptions when looking for correct fit. I’ve run into the same issue when looking to swap out parts on my 2021. When I bought my 2021 trd sport I negotiated a wheel switch for the exact same ones you’re asking about. The new tires I got with them are 265/70. I also negotiated a 2” leveling kit being added so with my next set of tires I’ll probably go with just a little bigger size.

    Thanks for that. I'm guessing you haven't had any issues with rubbing when the wheels are turned fully to either direction while running stock suspension with the 265/70s? I'll be getting these wheels for sure now that I know they fit. :spending:
